Russian Eastern European Figures

Cleaning in the garage I found four bags of Special Russian Police figures. They had been stuck in an old sorting box for the Marx French. I had sold these figures years ago. The set contains 8 different poses.

The poses are as follows

  1. Officer with pistol out
  2. Standing with shotgun across waist.
  3. Standing firing rifle
  4. Advancing with automatic weapon
  5. In riot gear right hand back ready to throw grenade automatic weapon in left hand
  6. Laying firing pistol
  7. With club and shield in Riot gear
  8. Kneeling with automatic weapon

Checking with Andrey Buslov, I found out the history of these figures. The figures were originally made by Oritet. They were sold in blister packs. ( we only had them loose without packaging.) The company closed in 2004 due to the death of the owner. The molds of Oritet were stored in two warehouses. At some point someone broke into one of the warehouses and stole one of the molds. (The set has two molds which each mold have figures.) At some point Biplant acquired this mold. At present sell the four poses in a gray.

One finally note the if you noticed the figures look like Airfix figures. At the time I got them the provider said the designer was a fan of Airfix. Andrey disagree with statement. He felt the designer was copying.

The other set that Detlef decided to share with us is this set of Indians. You can see that they are influenced by Timpo. They were made by PK Dasaff Odessa. The figures were made in the Ukraine.

One Response to Russian Eastern European Figures

  1. ERWIN F SELL says:

I got plenty progress flat sets ,they did most soviet bolshevik revolution,WW2 and post WW2 soviet army/marines sets in different scales such 54.60 and 75 mm ,too bad so flat but still a good memory of my childhood.
The Oriet molds issue had not been complete corroborated, because Biplant had release only partial poses set of some of the former Oriet original sets it could be they either stole or only adquire few or partial set molds.
most base or copied Biplant sets are in softer and crude made style than original Oriet.

I agree about figures(Special police force) not been influenced by admiration ,rather coping style but the progress modern special forces are very different still from Airfix still in my opinion.
So neither statement could be prove either i guess.
Oriet made nice other sets the WW2 russian and Russian 1808 infantry(now recast by MARS) made in late 90s-2004/5 approx are another interesting sets ,so the folkloric rare sets made early and primitive man, viking ,ninjas else .54-65 mm approx that i bought in late 90s direct from Kent in boxes
The Black indians are quite abundant still .Many flat sets are being reissue today as well or from late 90s backstock around and cheap.
I had found then a use as Black Seminoles for the seminole wars scenes in my collection.
    best
