The price is not bad considered the condition. There is another seller at ebay now selling one in box too x several thousand.
There was one sold out in box no ling ago x no more 800.

  2. OIF-Retread says:

they do show up on occasion; i think i have three in various states of repair. i’m hoping to combine them and make one nice one. i don’t think i paid more than $100 for any of them. if you check the completed auctions you’ll see some fairly nice ones went for reasonable prices.

Interestly enough i had seen this advertised twice .In it show what appear to be non Ideal Soldiers in the set included if look closely .
Does anybody know what soldiers are those and if ever sold with then by IDEAL!?

    • Bobby G. Moore says:

      Those are MPC ringhand G.I.’s.
      BOBBYGMOORE

      • Erwin says:

If they are MPC; why ?
Did Ideal ever sold this set w MPC figures?
I had never seen any w MPC .
LOOKS very rare to me IDEAL advertisement w not own figures brand.
I will like know more about it.

        • Andy says:

Is it that unusual for back then? For example, Lido made figures sold by T. Cohn, and Lido, Ajax and Archer copied from Bergen/Beton as examples. I’m sure there are other examples of this practice.

          • ERWIN SELL says:

Andy Lido and T cohen have strong relation in making and manufacture they both share production.T-Cohen was supplied by LIDO during 50s that is why many Sets had same figures and are mix advertise sold during era as well.
Seymour Arenstein bought and own most Ajax ,LIdo molds and used then for years as well.
Same goes for Ajax ,Archer and Bergen /Beton also share with those above too .

Now As far I had red i had not see MPC and Ideal relation sharing production in any set before or advertise ,of course I’m just giving my view only .
I know Ideal share production business with Kleeware of UK in several products and later by 1970 when start using mix of HK and others made in HK products to use -sale new playsets as well.
Another sample is Marx and TM that barely used others sets figure x their sets.So not quite a usual thing back then by large factories brands unless they share production often i think.
Those such Admi-Paul,Kent may know much better if they did.

Ideal used the Lido cowboys and Indians in the dollar bagged set.

    • IDEAL, Andy Gard and Deluxe Reading all used MPC ring hand figures in advertising their own products. Catalogs and ads had to be produced before the final product was for sale so the advertising people used hat they could find that were similar. I have a small catalog from Deluxe Reading where they painted the MPC army ringhands white. Andy Gard used the same mold maker as did MPC to make their army vehicles and figures and their first catalog (1963 if memory serves me) had only MPC figures, but the next year (1964) most catalog pictures had the Andy Gard figures (but a few still had MPC figures). MPC was going through difficulties in this time period (sold to the Loral Corp in 1965) and probably did not even notice it.

      • admin says:

MPC used Marx pirates in their advertsisng before their ringhand pirates were available.

      • ERWIN SELL says:

Thank you Kent x response .
I understand the advertise part often using not right figures .
I had see it often .
Interesting in other information you just post .Never heard of.
Yet one question remain from me …
Do you know if IDEAL Anzio invader set was ever sold or not with them !?

  4. Mark T. says:

The self propelled gun on the Anzio Invader is very similar to the Mexican made SPG that was posted in October. There are obvious differences in the casting, but it’s pretty close.

    • Erwin says:

      Mark T.

  5. ed borris says:

As far as I know the Anzio Invaders featured down sized Ideal figures with bases. I will say that that in the ad those figures certainly look like ringhands.

    • ERWIN SELL says:

Exactly that is what i always see even in two other advertise and all sets i had see ,same by Kent site.so not clue on this and surprised x such advertise with other brand figures.Unless Ideal sold any other plugin weapons figures that i think they did too .
      best

  6. ed borris says:

Ideal did do some plug in the weapons and equipment figures , but they were associated with their Battle Action line. I think there were like 4 different sets that they ended up doing. They were add on’s to the Battle Action line. Just so happens Play Set Magazine featured the Battle Action sets in the current issue and there are pictures of all sets including these plug in type guys. Never did like the term ringhand it doesn’t fit as some had slots and others just open hands, although there were guys forming circles or ovals with their hands. No, I don’t want to create a new term for them, most everyone seems to know what you are talking about when you say ring hands, so no reason to sink the ship.
