I was at a flea market when I got some Superheroes. As I was ready to leave I spotted this odd figure. He is about 3 inches tall and the arms moved. I figure he could be a warlord in a medieval scene.  I have no idea who made it.

Andrey set me this photo of two Cane pirates. the one the left we have seen from Erwin before. The figure on the right is similar to another Cane pirate pirate with monkey.

Erwin sent this photo of two  Indians  which he feels might be related from the one I have in my collection. Both figures have same mold configuration body with head attached.  Erwin noticed the bases are different and have no marks. Erwin feels that they are  two different brands  We have another mystery.

  1. The Indians look like Cresent.

  2. peter evans says:

The two Indians are by Cherilea, they are missing their necklaces.
The leaping figure has been put on a different base.
Cherilea produced their 70mm swoppet type figures with trade marked and unmarked bases. The plain bases were for export ranges. The 70mm swoppet kinghts for example were sold by Elastolin

Interesting ,they could also be some else copied then too…

I was aware of tall(75 mm ) swoppet knights been sold with German Jean Hoefler’s King Arthur castle playset ,also pack under PLASTY even after PLASTY made their own too .
Never heard of ELASTOLIN selling then ,it most be x cheap line as ELASTOLIN swoppet knights are spectacular much better .
      Best…

      • peter evans says:

If you check Elastolin later catalogues you will find the Cherilea Knights shown in there.
As far as know Cherilea 70mm swoppets were never pirated or copied.
Ally Gee had contacts with Elastolin and was a regular attendee at the Nuremburg Toy Fairs

        • Erwin says:

I feel sorry x Elastolin going that low selling those ugly swoopet figures.
Cherilea knights 70mm swoppet are the uglies swopped I ever see….
These indian overmolded plastib are not back either.
          Best…

The Cherilea spacemen were copied and used by Marx as Undersea divers. Other companies used them as well

          • erwin says:

The Cherilea Knights were copied in HK,I got 5 or 6 of then and are 60 mm next to others, they change the shield while rest was exact same in repeated cloned down scaled poses ,detail almost same.
And I’m not talking about the HK Ellem- Cherilea LINE ,imported alike TRANSOGRAM swoppet please. Two different lines sets figures.!!

I do not have any info in Cherilea Indian however they could had been as Italian brands copied many CHERILEA solid if not cloned I should say in exact same scale and there plenty of then .
Torgano,Barabelli,ITALY and Tibidabo have then in bags and cases and showed in catalogs and books too.
Yet the HK copies I have do have a HK stamped bellow base and come from Belgium seller in mid 2000.
I will dig then x pictures next to 70/75 mm original Cherilea swoppet soon.
Crescent and Charben Swappet knights, western were also copied by HK too I have several .In this case the figures actually were a bit taller but crude in detail.
            Best regards.

Those “Cherilea” space men are a mystery ,in my opinion they were commissioned and made for US factories first ,then sold by Cherilea as well.

In a mint set box of CHERILEA-MARX multi parts figures it says this and I will supply picture of mint set box .
            Manufacture By Cherilea TOYS LTD
            Kirckham,England exclusively for US.
GAMES systems Inc 120 wall street.
            New York NY 10005.USA.

Plenty HK cloned poses appear direct till 1990s as well with last poor detail while early cloned HK are almost identical and hard easy to pass as original.

Peter you are right the figures are Cherilea. I looked at them this morning after your comment. I should spotted last night but for various reasons miss it. Thanks for the correction.

  3. Brian Johnson says:

The 2 “Cane” pirates remind me of Disney’s Peter Pan Pirates.

  4. ed borris says:

All I know is the guy with the tomahawk was one handsome devil.

  5. TDBarnecut says:

Them fellers has got a heap o fringe on thar buckskins.

  6. Wayne W says:
