Pvblivs has two new Sets Russian Knights and  Mongols. Each set is six different figures. They are repesentative of the fierce battles of the Russians and mongols in the 13th Century.  The Mongols  conqoured many areas of Russia. They held these areas until until into the late 14 century.

The Russian Knight set consist of six foot poses

  2. Firing bow at waist
  3. with mace and round shield
  4. With mace and shield
  5. Advancing with sword overhead and shield
  6. Standing with Spear and shield

The Mongol set consists of six foot poses

  1. Firing  bow
  2. Attack with sword and shield
  3. Loading a crossbow
  4. Ready to throw spear and with shield
  5. With mace and round shield
  6. Advancing with sword in right hand and mace in left hand

The figures are excellent and highly detailed.  We do not have a date when they will be available.

Pvblivs: Beautifully detailed sculpts as always, although the Mongol with scimitar overhead has a slightly awkward look to the position of his arm.

No name: The wolfskin berserker is great! All 3 of the new figures are even better than the first crop. Definitely going to get a set if I can. I’m glad I didn’t get them when I first heard of them or I would have missed these three. Comparing the two styles, the animation of the cheaper No Name figures looks better and more natural than the Pvblivs.

      I agree Mark.
Also I see potential in two poses on (no name) to be easy converted to mounted poses as not Viking but if want for Rohirrim warriors of LOTR or other early medieval cavalry .Also as Germanic-Gaelic ancient cavalry too.
Many Viking have that used ,not only these of course.
      my thoughts…

  2. Brian Johnson says:

Viking #2 is holding a sword not a spear.

  3. r smith says:

Very nice,,they should paint quite nicely,,

  4. ed borris says:

While the berserker is nicely sculpted, that pose looks a bit bizarre to me.

  5. Thanks Paul,

I have been gathering some Pvblivs sets, mainly the Vikings and Saxons. I will skip on these new sets, just because of the price. I will pick up a set of those Vikings and most likely try to change them. I wish they would have take some better pose to switch from metal to plastic. There are some nice other poses of figures that can be easily put together to form a shieldwall. Also the other thing that I don’t really like about the no name vikings is they appear a little lanky. But for the price, I get a set to work with. Thanks again, Mike.

  6. denitz says:

Yes. New 3 viking poses should be available soon.

Also will available new mounted russian knight, new mounted roman soldier, mounted fantasy knight and mounted SF ork.

  7. erwin says:

Yes these sets should be done or announce complete ,not by parts or drops…
Alex advise me to inform before to let people know ahead as is not right many will try buy then not complete and then need buy again to get other poses.
that is my only complain about the no name brand figures sets and producers of few selling.
They should post the sets are not complete.
The same happen with early romans, knights and others too.
    my thoughts…

Yes. I have same claim – steb-by-step releases. I spoke several time with manufacturer about it, but no change.

And I every time fill guilty towards my customers.

The new Mongols and Russian sets are suppose to represent the battle of Kulikovo that was the first main victory of Russian after long domination against the golden Horde-tartar -mongolds.That is what I just red today from Russians bloggers.

Still even Kulikovo it was a great victory the Russian will suffer other defeats after and Moscow was be burn in a second successful Mongol offensive two years later. ..

Now I have some critique against the set as if they cost so much and portray as historical accurate and I guess I can ask for better.
    About set .
While Soviet era flat Russian and Tarta-mongol toy soldiers sets represent many horse mounted poses ,here this set have an issue as not a single mounted pose.

Makers need to realize that the steppes wars and tartars, Mongols and Russian used massive horses forced. These are not Viking or early Rus .
In general all medieval sets should have plenty mounted poses as well .

But I imagine if Pvlbivs launch a set with horse the price will be astronomical I guess…

Also observing the Mongols I disagree in correct armor -outfit depicted .The Golden Hord had complete differentiated from early XIII Mongols in Chinese type armor ,they were more clothing and light style outfit as those nomads or tartar represented by Jecsan and Elastolin and others .Even many Russian painting show then as that.
These in the set are more as the ones used in much early period of Genghis and Kublai khan-1200s(XIII Century) not for late 1300s or 1380 when the battle happen.

Another issue, few archers. Both Tartars and Russian used massive archers forces by then.
If they ask that much for few figures they can go more and better in accuracy .
    My thoughts..
    best ..
