I decided to break down and get a Palmer Kong for my Marx, Ajax, Timmee and Dino-Sinclair Dinosaurs. I always felt the Palmer Kong was the only one that looked like Kong. The rest were just big gorillas. I had commit the sacrilege of painting him flat black. I’d love to get the cyclops, It and Creature, too. I’m just not willing to pay 40 to 50 Dollars a piece to get them. This guy here cost me $21.00. The deals are out there.

As I compared him to the Marx revised T-Rex, I saw the posing possibilities that mirrored the movie fight scene rather well.  hope somebody gets a kick out of this.

Admin:  The Fray Wray figure that went with the Palmer King Kong is the hardest piece to find here is the Palmer monster courtest from Kent Sprecher.

I recently watch Caveman with Ringo Starr and noticed the doofy T-Rex looked amazing similar to the Marx ‘pot belly’ T-Rex. You can’t tell me that wasn’t the inspiration.
Greg Liska Palmer King Kong, Dinosaur, Caisson MysteryAdmin: I thought we could see if we could contact the animator. The animator on the film  was  David Allen. Sadly he passed away in 1999.  Caveman is copyrighted by United Artists.

Greg also sent a photo of unknown caisson. I immediately recognized it as the Tootsie Toy caisson. The horse are wrong as they are Marx harness horses.  The horses are without harness.

Here is the Tootsie Civil War Poses They did two mounted, two foot and  one driver. Once again we must thank Kent Sprecher for use of his photo.

Greg has some final thoughts. I’m hoping somebody can help me out. I’m looking for Tootsie toy ACW figures. I don’t need the cannons. I might be interested in a wagon, complete or in need of some work. Figures can be damaged, too. I’d seen the figures around, but didn’t pay any attention to them. Now that I have a limber and like it. I’d like to get some of the figures. attached are 2 pics.  Thanks for taking the time to look and I hope somebody can come up with some for me. We can talk deal when you contact me.

We have somewhere the Tootsietoy wagon, minus the top. It is die cast with plastic wheels. I never knew they made the limber and cannon, etc.

I like the Palmer Kong as well. I put little metal clips on the one I had as a kid, but I also used him with my dinosaurs. The metal clips were kind of like what is used to clip on ace bandages, but were used on clothing back in the day, and there were 2 of them with tread between them. It made a perfect chain, and the clips looked like manacles. It was easy to wrap around Kong’s hand, and his other arm as well even though you couldn’t go all the away around his one arm, it would kind of look like he had broken free. I like the Palmer Kong and Frankenstein figs the best. The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, and cyclops isn’t bad either.

I had both the MPC and Palmer monsters. I liked all the MPC monsters and back when I was a kid, all the Palmer monsters, too. For my collection now, I got a Kong, a Cyclops, a Creature and an It. The rest just look kind of doofy to me. I do have a Wolfman, but in October, when I get home, he’s going to hit Ebay. I can see what you did with Kong. I never thought to put the manacles on him. I wish the AnnDarrow / Fay Wray piece was posed a little better.

I liked the mpc ones as well. But Palmer’s Drac is the best I’ve seen in 54-70mm.
Kong goes great with ho scale bi-planes also btw. Also he makes a decent beast man fantasy figure. Its too bad no one downsized the wolf man, and frankenstein from marx’s 6 inch line, the wolf man is really good. I never had the Fay Wray figure for Kong, way too much, also very hard to find, plus I didn’t have many ho figures, I like 54-70mm best. Kent’s site is very good, great info, great to deal with as well. Best of luck Greg.

Hi Paul, I heard about the movie. I am not aware of the figures though. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks. I don’t get out a lot, so am not aware of new stuff except from here, I hardly get online anymore. Some stores that have sites don’t list size, nor show good pictures, so I hardly ever even check them. I wish you and Laurie, and your children the best Paul.

The new King Kong figure is big as they have to work with action figures from the series. I do not get tomalls much anymore either.
