Wonder if the ship will have a crew of some sort?

  2. Erwin says:

So I far I saw one prototype very alike last movie front ship used where Achilles and his Hopolite are when landing.
    Very intersting…

What about the Trojan Horse itself, which I thought was going to be out this year? Is that it — at least a prototype — standing on the beach in the photo? And what’s the status of the Greek and Trojan character figures that were being designed?

All those things aside, I think this Greek Galley is a good contribution, and shows that LOD is working toward a full and complete offering of Trojan War pieces and accessories. So far, I’ve acquired them all — figures, chariots, and the impressive City of Troy main gate, walls, and tower system.

I hope the ship is affordable. Conte’s were nice but expensive. We could use more 1/32 boats in this hobby. On my wishlist is a Vietnam PBR, something that could easily be done in 1/32. Maybe a plastic hull and a resin foam top?

My thoughts exactly Tom; I had the Atlantic Greek ships- but they were in 1/72 scale; would love to have a decent model in the larger scale.

Well I got several Remco and playmobil Roman galleys and to be honest not much difference from Greeks ones as the Remco is barely realistic, so the play Mobil.
AIRGAM from Spain made another I have as well that is more close to real typical roman early empire period..
For now I can use all those. I’m not fan of Foam toys ,so I will not be interested in it x long.
However is a great welcome x hobby and all who like then..
    Best …

Erwin, it took me a long time to become converted to foam products – I still treat them gingerly, though I’ve discovered they hold up quite well and are much tougher than I expected (within reason). As it appears large plastic accessories such as buildings and full scale ships are cost prohibitive to be produced like in the old days – I guess we’ll have to “settle” for foam; not really a tough thing to do considering how beautiful the products are these days. I’ve figured we play a bit more carefully with the new stuff.

Then again, I recall stuff breaking off the old plastic stuff – the “unbreakable” toys we used to play with as kids wasn’t all that unbreakable.

Wayne .Honestly I’m very happy for you having able adapt to Foam type toys .
I agree with many of your thoughts and glad for all who will love and take opportunity of then since Barzso and CTS start using them in their playset else.
I particular about to finish sold off the few left I had
In my personal opinion even they last a lot and probably material will never give up in time plus realistic in the terrain type (not buildings) …I have my reservation regarding quality.
In my case many had pill off and they can get dent easy with minor touch …
The fact that are to light plus not plastic made ,may me think of paper -crepe type structure used with composition and old lead toy soldiers back in early times;so it had taking off my personal flavor.

Recently I list two terrain and sold quick, one more last I list not long ago for less value at retail just to give away .
Because I had done test using mesh wire net and cover w light plaster to do terrain applying during wet time ,using some mold impression to give trench-sacks else texture give me freedom to do then larger and more economic if I need too.
In building most foam lack windows and it made then looks either complete burn or not build at all, like in western set ,very odd to me like AUSTIN buildings.
The Barzo ships ,not counting the insane prices are way non realistic to me,too thick in my opinion …
But again is a matter of private personal like of course..nothing else…
Hope many will enjoy the new ships soon and come at affordable prices to everyone to build a fleet..
    best regards..

I myself absolutely love the new castles, forts, towers, buildings, battlefields, trench systems, defensive fortifications, etc. that AIP, Conte, Barzso, CTS, TSSD, Hobby Bunker, LOD, Delson and others have introduced. To me, they look very realistic, especially when they come painted.

The first one I ever saw was at OTSN many years ago, when Formtec unveiled its 3-piece WWI trench system, which I thought was great. I still have it, but have set it up with toy soldiers many times, and I think of it as quite sturdy, even if I drop it. Using it as a set-up on a battleboard table essentially allows it to last forever, just like my Conte Warlord Tower and Beau Geste Legion forts are both completely intact and quite beautiful, even after all these years.

I haven’t had any durability problems, but granted, it’s adults using and playing with them, not children. I handle them with about the same level of care I do a hand-painted metal toy soldier. If you do that, they last a lifetime.

They really make a toy soldier battlescene much more interesting. Look at what the TSSD Custer Last Stand Hill, coupled with the subsequent Reno’s Hill, did for Little Big Horn set-ups. Look at what LOD’s recent Walls of Troy gate and towers did for Trojan War set-ups.

All in all, I’ve got about 40 – 50 of these Formtec-type pieces, and I like all of them quite a bit.
