Unboxing Fort Comansi Playset Part Three

Unboxing Fort Comansi Playset Part Three this time we are looking at the Indians and wagon.

The first picture is of the unopened bag set.

Second Picture is of the Foot Indians
Inside we find 4 very cool foot figures. The figures are cast in a red-brownish soft plastic and have been factory painted. The painting is horrible and these would look so much better unpainted. I may strip the paint off of one set.
I do like these poses, especially the tomahawk swinger.

Unboxing Fort Comansi Playset Part Three

Here we have 5 mounted poses. All of them have the same horse. The Indian horse just has a saddle blanket thrown over the horse. There is no saddle. And instead of a carbine in a holster, there is an arrow quiver with arrows attached to the horse. All the horses are brown.
I like these figures, too. However I  think that I’ll replace the small horses with some larger ponies. The mounted Indians will look better with larger mounts.

Here is the bag set and a shot of the unassembled wagon. You can see that the body is hard plastic, while the top is white soft plastic. The double hitch fits around the Indian ponies that are doing double duty as a wagon team.
Odd that Comansi would choose the Indian pony rather than the cavalry horse to pull the wagon.

The 4 horses are shown in this pic.

There are a couple of pix of the completed wagon. The driver is in a strange red plastic that would remind you of the later TimMee cowboys. Not quite translucent, but close. He’s firing both guns, so who’s driving the wagon?

This is a really nice addition to your wagon train type diorama. You can replace the driver with some Marx western or ACW wagon drivers and
use this in your 54 mm battles. I used the calling ACW caisson driver and put the mounted caisson rider with the whip, on the lead horse.

This wagon fits in well with Marx, Dulcop and CTS.
I got 6 or 8 of these for John Sr. Not in bags, but in cheese boxes. John put them together and they fit perfectly in a box the American cheese came in.

Erwin, Did this Fort Apache by Comansi come from you? How about the wagons that John Sr. had?

Okay that’s it for this part…….Bill

Bill as I stated before, I don’t know where is posted now but recently .
I sold to Stengel’s Junior in person back early 2000 at Hackensack many dozen each houses, forts and wagons/stagecoach .The bags if not barcode most be from inside fort as filler .
Now my carriages come assembled from factory. I will send pictures of it to admin in few days.

I will send admin all poses Indians and figures I got .I’m not in position of all variation poses but most..
Comansi did three generation-scales of figures.
First generation(harder to get in 60 mm) that as a revised pose sets redone molded to plastic from rubber early poses to plastic transition.
2nd generation (more common but taller-70/75 mm)-as above from BILLs
3er Last generation 40 mm scales(a mix poses derivate from 1st and 2 generation)
They did a 100-112 mm big scale to compete with LAFREDO same line too but limited run.(I don not know how many poses of these were done)
    SOLDIERS
    They did Civil war set.
    Rin tTin tin set
    And 7 cavalry set
Indian they did 5 sets different poses in the three generation scales plus few big poses.
There is a lot poses Indians and cowboys.

    Another update.
The carriage drivers by COMANSI are infact 4 different main driver poses made.
Comansi did ,open carriage, wagon, stagecoach and two wheels carriage.
I will supply picture of 4 poses.
Note that as I stated many times before again, most figures mold of main Spaniard figures were made of BRONZE of 1 ,two or 4 poses each two halves pieces.
First and for long hand pressed process ,much later adapted to non hand pressed(here is when many molds were damage and repaired ,poses loose and others varied)

Carriage drivers often come single or pair x companion (generally firing rifle) -halve mold, horse one pose per double halve or some times rider and horse in one .

COMANSI did not use next driver companion as Jecsan,PH did. But often included in back carriage or mounted in horse next too.
The above(TWO GUNS poses) made was a revised pose not intended but adopted in 80s after other mold damage or else, minor difference was the right hand in main pose has a whip. It was done x 40 mm scale set as well as mounted horse pose and copied in HK too with few other COMANSI.
Note horses x carriage COMANSI did used many times same horses x riders with holes in middle too in early , then made original for .The original were random used wile Indian or cowboys horses were put to use very often.
Also…the horses for Indian carry arrow pouches wile cowboys- soldiers carry the carbine holster. Both nice unique detail not see in many western figures.

WOW I got a lot work to pull out x next day…
Admin hope you don’t mine I will bombarded you with pictures.
    Sorry.

  3. Erwin says:

I will get to work in Comansi soon .thank you Bill x posting this nice mint sets.
Taking off paint Spaniard figures require a good wotk.be ca refull.
I will not do unless find good way.
Generally paint used was much better than those in british firms .Very hard to get , was resin natural made.
My thoughts .You are experts in this.
    Not me…
    Now I have overtime w comansi digging…LOL

  4. Wayne W says:

There are a few good poses (wish they were in my scale); but so far the wagon has been the most impressive “piece” I’ve seen so far. Of course, it’s all subjective.

  5. Tom Black says:

The mounted Indian on the far right looks like he has some type of Asian style armor on his shoulders/chest?

  6. Bill Nevins says:

Tom Those are buckskin fringes, I think.

  7. Jon Burk says:

The tomahawk chief is a great pose. I guess the quiver on the horse is held up by “The Force?” That’s a strange feature to include on a horse blanket. Must be mustangs since they are undersized horses. I like the wagon; maybe an outrider with a bow could make use of those arrows on the wagon team! Since the driver is firing both his guns, an outrider is really needed!

    • Erwin says:

The pose used is not coreect made by Comansi as driver. He was the companion. After driver mold damage else. THIS pose was adapted x it.
The horses x carriages are original different. I will supply entire correct Comansi poses line as well two other full set of Calvary and others .
      Best…..

      • Erwin says:

ALL Comansi horses looks under scake x this last series figures made in 70/75 mm.They were original made x first series 60 mm scales sets.
Only other horses scales COMANSI did was x their 40 mm scale series sets.
Teepees , carriages, houses and forts were made x 60 and 40 mm scales too . Not x the 70/75 mm scale series.
Comansi launch that big scale to compete with JECSAN and LAFREDO huge western line series …..

  8. Jon Burk says:

Also interesting that the blanket has a different design between right and left sides. I don’t know why the sculptor would have done that. The wagon does look like it would fit right in with the Marx Wagon and Dulcop would be a Conestoga Wagon next to this one. Nice setwagons to add into your wagon train set up or a Civil War supply train.

  9. Mark T. says:

I already posted this on the Stads Stuff thread, but it might have been overlooked.

If you like the style of Comansi figures you should check out these new China-made western wagon sets on Amazon. The sculpting is quite similar to Comansi and they would fit well together with the Spanish sets.

I can post pic compere next to COMANSI . Yet I will think they will match nice with other poses western ,this Amazon is reselling then over priced too.

here is my sale lot with mix so you see some other poses.

These are few tips- recommendation to those who look x Spanish brand only on ebay,I had bough most mine off eBay but found deals at eBay too that either pass as repeated or not.
First search using all following brand name as seller often use all Different companies names to list generically as many here use MARX to list any on eBay.
So here are the search brands you may look often.
    JECSAN,COMANSI,PECH HERMANOS,LA FABRICA,REAMSA,PUCHOL,OLIVER,LAFREDO.GOMARZA,RAIGON,ROJAS Y MALARET,GAMA.
Once you find a set/lot you like before you “scream” in shipping automatic eBay quoted!.
Ask seller if he/she can ship economic shipping. Most would say yes. Few say not.
Spain can ship any under 2.5 pound for less $15.00 generally, it may or not have tracking and not insurance but arrive very fast ,They use a hard paper bubble bag or light small box.
Ask always seller you do not want faster but economic shipping-NON SEA SHIPPING(in Spanish) =(NO envio maritime)
PLEASE!!!or it will take three month in a sail boat via Africa first.
Till today using Ebay, TODOCOLLECCION system and other in over 20 years I had not lost single pack from SPAIN or world at all. More than 70% my collection had been ship out to me.
Also offer sellers an offer buy if not x offer, chances are 50% but will not hurt try.
Also stablish with that seller if sale a lot figures connection x you want list.
Also make sure you see figure well, some times are played and not great condition.
For translation to Spanish ,Portuguese,Italian contacted me if need it ,but many sellers do use google translation as well u may too and it work good 85%.
Any ways I’m willing to help at any time.

ANOTHER OPTION is create an eBay SPAIN account ,BUT NEED create new and google in Spain all time, in this way you will find way more.
Same goes for any other country.
Do not search under toy soldiers only, search under vintage toys, action figures and even collectibles.
    Many sellers list as that.
hope this tip may help some one .any question I will gladly help/respond.
    Best regards…
