Odds and Ends

I know we are in summer when I have to put the bedroom air conditioner in.

How has your hunting at the flea markets been so far this year? I have been finding dribs and drabs.  I found at today’s flea market the Marx 60mm Jesus and Saints in the box. The two saints with staffs are damaged the other figures are fine. My very good friend John  got a Nutty Mad and other than some Marx Japanese for $2.00 each which both of us pass on that was it.  John was surprised that I did the market only once and did not go around several times.  It goes back to when I first did flea markets with my father.  We would do a row going down the center.  We glanced at each stand looking for items we were interested in.  I know I can miss things but I work on percentages, I will turn up items.  Toy and Toy Soldier Shows I will do several  times as there more to look for in my field.  The worse is Plastic Warrior Show the last time we were there I was around 40 times. Each time I found something new.

The word rare is something that is over used in our hobby.  I found that out in a posting on the  French Plastic Figure Forum.  I mention on their forum the Cherilea Baronial knight which I used to have  as our logo before WordPress, that only 20 existed.  Well in two short post I found there are at least  ten more. Our very good friend Brian Carrick mention that  Joe  Bellis  had found eight in France and French collector mention he had five which he had sold two. Still the figure is selling for over $150.00.

Look at the Marx Johnny Ringo and how many have surface on Ebay and the price still up there.  It is why I have passed on some figures because of the high price. I rather buy 500 plus figures for the collection that buy one $500.00 figure.

Speaking of Brian Carrick, he has posted a box of  Britains ST Cyr Cadets. Is it real or a fake? Check out his blog  http://toysoldiercollecting.blogspot.fr/2012/05/st-cyr-cadets-by-britains.html

I’ll tell you what’s rare now, 60mm revised pose pioneers, because I have them all. Not really, but a lot. At one time I had 10 Gibbs Custer sets. I think i have become compulsive in my purchases.
