Comansi Part One

When I look at Comansi of Spain I think of Timmee  and Cherilea. In one breath why couldn’t they do their figures equal Marx or Britains.  On the other hand I love their figures. Comansi  did a wide range of  different figure types. Example of this is the figure above an Indian Army figure.  The figure is 70mm and looks to be a officer.  I do not know  why the English companies did not Indian troops in plastic. The only ones that were done were by Atlantic.  Back when I did stories with my figures I would have had him as an important figure in my forces. He is a welcome addition to the collection.  I was able to acquire him with some Italian Bersagli which I will show in the near future.

Brian you are right Crescent did make some nice 60mm Indian Army figures. I had a couple of Crescent Indian Army figures in my hands yesterday. Shows how brain dead I am from the human job plus we had to take Sparky to Vet. Nothing wrong he is fine, but I had to put up with his complaints about going to Vet all the way over.
Getting back to the subject I am surprised that neither Timpo or Britains did not do Indian Army or 24th Foot Zulu Wars. Besides Atlantic I should have mention that Armies in Plastic did Indian Army foot and cavalry.
      Thank for the quick correction.

I like the Crescent Indian Army figs but even back in the day when I got them for 15Cents a figure at my 5&Dime(and at those prices I could only get one per Saturday trip to town) I wished they had put a little more thought into the poses.Even then I wondered about the one charging with a Gurka’s Kukri !!And should have been more shooter poses.I was also a fan of the Crescent Russians as they were the only “Bad Guys” available to me but again they could have done some better poses. And just what the H**L is the prone Russian supposed to be doing eh,LOL.

Brian I agree with you on the Crescent Indian Army they should have put more thought into the poses. When you look at the Marx figures you wished they had more firing poses for each side in the Civil War sets. Then we have the Marx pioneer with a Turkey maybe in the Fort Apache sets but in the Alamo what a lame pose. You are right on Crescent Russian laying dumb pose.

Cherilea did Indian army in 6 poses x the war w china and pakistan too .
Comansi sets above consist of 14 different countries represented by 6 poses each.
Later in 90s sold unpainted mix in bags.
The sets were last production of comansi mold .Not as detail as previous.

Charbens did Sikh’s. I think we still have some, They are rather large and ugly looking, but unless someone finally bought them we have 5 or 6.

    • Erwin says:

Yes I think were 6 poses. The reissues come In 90s same time as cherilea reissues set.
Too bad cherilea indian army were never reissue.

      • ERWIN says:

And yes I agree those charbens(in reality looks like XIX Gurkas) are very bad done, one has what appear to be a banana ,but I guess they try do a Gurkha knife!?.The poses are typical semi flat odd designed.
Few Charbens such XVIII British grenadiers and pirates are good, most rest are not good poses neither sculptures.
In the other hand what admin said is correct .
The true only Indians x WW2 are made by Atlantic and Comansi because weapons and typical Indus uniform/clothing depicted.(Atlantic the best of all in nice 13 poses !!)
Crescent are modern post WW2, Cherilea too ,Charbens are more Muslim or may be Gurkhas in uniform and turban plus early period than 1920’s

I agree the pirates are the best. I also liked the British 8th army maybe they were the first I got of that group. there detail is not great, but interesting figures. The rarest is the Francis Drake series which has a figure bowling!
