Stad’s Flea Market Items Finds July 2016

Stad’s Flea Market Items Finds July 2016 looks at various items I have found. This season has been tough. Still I have found some great items for sale and the collection. Some items I recognize others, I do not, still that is part of the game.  Some items I find from sources others are sometimes in the wrong place. So let’s us take a look.

Stad’s Flea Market Items Finds July 2016  Unusual Cannon

Stad's Flea Market Items Finds July 2016The first of all is the sliver cannon. Its barrel is  5 inches tall and it is five inches high. It seems like a deck gun. The cannon does fire. Do you recognize it?

First of all we have an unknown cowboy. The cowboy is hard plastic and is a mounted pose We can tell this from leg position and peg.  A number of companies used pegs to hold their rider on the horse. Britains put their peg on their horse. This unknown company  had the peg on the figure.

The Indian is 60mm and looks factory painted.

The next photo show one unknown figures and two known figures. The unknown figure is 45mm and holding puppy I believe.  The known figures are a MPC ring hand figure and a Michel cowboy. I put the MPC ring hand aside as he was in a gray.  I do not remember seeing this color variation before.

The Michel was an early cheap line from Starlux that was imported into the United States. I know that the cowboys, Indians and pirates were imported into the country.  What is interesting for me just when I thought I have seen all the poses a new one turns up.  The cowboy firing pistol is an example of that.   The figure is more realistic than the ones I usually find.  I will be checking when this one was made.

Stad’s Flea Market Items Finds July 2016 Merchants Square

Stad's Flea Market Items Finds July 2016Merchants Square is an indoor flea market that operates on the weekend.  They have an area where they have various activities such a garage sale. They also have permanent stands.  One of them has various fast food and PVC items. I have found various interesting items.  On a recent visit I found four interesting items.  The first is a centaur which is either from Narnia or Hercules the Disney Movie.  The second figure is Black Widow from the Marvel comics.  She is 54mm figure and I plan to look for a second one of her. If I find the second one I will ship her to my very good friend Peter Evans. I will then have him do a conversion with her.  I realize I have no conversion figures from him of a female figure.

The other two figures I got were Doctor Octopus  from Spiderman and Schleich Arab. I wonder if there were other figures done beside this Arab Figure.

Stad’s Flea Market Items Finds July 2016 Brother Bear

Stad's Flea Market Items Finds July 2016

I was walking at a flea market when I spotted a box with a Eskimo. On closer inspection I recognized the Eskimo as being from Brother Bear. This was a Disney movie that was out in 2003.

I discovered that there were six related figures in the box.  I wanted to buy just the six figures. The dealer wanted to sell the box.  I asked a price. I was surprised when he told the price. It was what I was going to pay for the six figures.  The only stipulation I could not have the plastic box holding the figures.  That was fine with me as prefer a bag.

I am missing four pieces from the set. they are two bears and two moose.  I have something else to look for.

Sorry the first one is mine. I will let you know when I get a second. I have a policy when I decide to keep a figure I will not sell it. I am afraid I will have a very hard time finding another. On Michel I have had at least 2000 of their figures go through my hands and I have not seen this one until now. The Michel pirates which I mention I got my first figures nearly 30 years ago. since then I have seen one other in the United States. It was damaged. In France it should be easy to find.

Regarding the gray MPC ring hands figure in the trench coat. Around 1962-63, my friend next door got a set of MPC ring Hand Civil War figures. It had all the Civil War weapons and accessories but the figures were early ring hand poses including the figures in the trench coats and tunics. I have no photos or other documents, only my memory. After the weapons were lost the gray figures were used as WWII Germans with Marx and MPC.

The cowboys is base in original Starlux 1957 series of cowboys 12 foot poses including several Mexican poses w rifles.
The figure with dog is part of Boley farm playset with 5 other figures included two woman’s .I got the playset with farm building as well
However I had see it too used in other not Boley branded set in bags as well.
I will have to pull figure to see if Boley original has mark bellow and size …

The Indian does have a knife not as complete.
On the Michel cowboy that explains it. The other ones I have seen are from early 50’s and were sold in Woolworths and other places. The 1957 must have not gotten as marketing as some of the figures would have become characters in my stories.

Sorry I could not see knife in pic and also the color mix blend with what is supporting it in the angle.
        I though was missing.
On the the same Starlux cowboys 1957 series, there also mounted poses.
I had never see them as under Michael line
        First time seen as that.
        Who knows what else there…
One of the hardest to see are the so call Incas Indians ,they were nice done but some carry moder fire weapons.I’m always looking x then, only found two.
They blend well as amazon or south america natives or if removing fire arms as pre conquest era top.
They are not Incas by clothing as too naked and feathers else depicted. But very interesting nice figures.

The Schleich Arab is (CAIRO) character and part of special Disney license playset in window case call (Walt Disney Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark set).It bring 2 arabs ,one soldier Mechanic in boxing/fighting pose ,Indi and a woman (Marion)plus few accessories. Figures are about 3-3.5″ or taller I think.
Schleich had done 4 other medieval era Saracen poses in the standard single poses 4″ figures series not related to above.
