Recreated Roman Games

I found this interesting  article on the Daily Mail of how Nimes France  is recreating the Roman Gladiator Games. It has been going on for several years and gets 25,000 people to attend the two day affair. Take a look at the article here Roman Games

Another stop on my bucket list. Why didn’t they do that when I passed thru Nimes back in the 70s?

Wayne.I will asume this type of large event did not happen till much after, as costly and most europe was still recovering from WW2 .I had few collectors that told me it was not till late 80 and early 90 european economy and income start to be much better after decades of low and high.
European renacment battles start in the high by same era too.
In the other hand I bet you did took an interesting period there and able to see what now is not longer there.
    My thoughts….

Oh yeah, Erwin, I know. I was just joking. It was an interesting time when I was over there; and you are correct, there is so much that is missing. I tell my wife I would like to take her to see Europe while it is still there.

Yes you should get over there. I know my father would have love England but his health stopped him from traveling. It has pain me this last few years I have not been able to get over and enjoy Europe and see old friends and make some new ones.

I’ve a few of my old “haunts” I’d like to visit and show my wife. I’d like to go to Berlin – I wasn’t allowed to travel overland back during Cold War with my job and all and couldn’t afford a plane ticket; and I’ve always regretted not getting farther South. One day soon; who knows?
