P1140313 Lintek Napoleonic Commando History

LINTEK From Russia
Small company founded in 1991. Closed in 1995. Produced few sets.
Now all molds are “lost” according to Russian source
Lintek made only FOUR sets :
P1140320

Napoleonic Russian Infantry. 65mm (3 poses)
Napoleonic French Infantry. 65mm (3 poses)
Leib-Guard Lithuanian Regiment. 56-60mm (6 poses)-PLUS (one odd very similar pose was done standing shooting but changed and never relesed after)-see pictures link of firing two variant positions.

Commando-(Kommando). 56-65mm 6 figures in(6 poses)-(the pose number 6 is very hard to see ) The set-Clearly representing Arnold_Schwarzenegger in two poses from movie(Commando) of 1985.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commando_(1985_film)
And only ONE pose for set “Grenadiers of the Emperor’s Guard”. Actually it was Sapeur. (Very hard nice and pricy pose)
No other information on factory is know by my side.
A far from historical importance and rarity of the sets what bring me the attention is the fact the a Russian company in the turmoils times of change over from Soviet times , decide to produce a figure depicting an American movie hero!!!.Well not quite American as we know. And that is maybe because of his heavy accent and the fact the actor has portrayed Russians characters before in film(Red Heat -1988)he was cast for this set.
Also because in the film he uses a special Russian weapon(possible a RPK-74M) which is depicted in the one pose, wile in other he is posing firing a typical revolver (Smith & Wesson Model -maybe!?) with an M16 .
I like to add that the KOMMANDO set poses also could very well used to represent the movie(Predator) with Arnold too.
The boxes have nice illustrated art outside with Napoleonic back illustration in how to paint the figures(Airfix-ESCI style)The wording in English indicate me that were intended for export too as only address of company is written in Russian next to English.
The mold/art designing of the figures is well detail but not as 3D as others. I will think it was the result of typical transition from ex soviet flat era toy soldiers done to accommodate new more western/else style as now been produced in Russia with incredible detail.
Plastic is stiff hard but not as fragile and so bad quality as those of new Plubius ,more like Italeri plastic type.
Scale is described in the box as 1:30 scale=60 approx;but the Napoleonic figures with tall shako style hat looks between55-60 mm and Arnold(tallest pose is 66 mm tall(match for his real live size I guess). This was another interesting great detail observed by Russian artist and factory when making the figure.
All figures come from factory in sprue. I manage to receive them off sprue but all bases still may be small remnant of it left;easy to sand off.
Napoleonic figures represent the late period (1812-1815) wars/battles in summer field and parade uniforms. No detail was left loose when coping the detail of uniform/better than Airfix ,AIP and HAT I should said.
I will have two different sets x sale soon at my site store and eBay.
Leib-Guard Lithuanian Regiment. 56-60mm 6 figures in (6 poses) and 5 poses sort lots
Commando-(Kommando Dilan). 56-65mm 6 figures in(5 poses)
Will be in very limited quantities only .
Thank you for your time and enjoy!!

    Love the Napoleonics !

  2. ed borris says:

Too bad the Napoleonics are so big, with a little cutting they would make nice Alamo Mexicans I could convert.

  3. Erwin says:

Ed.The plastic is not good x it unless use the hot cutting process w some hard work.
There is also a huge difference in.uniforms ,very hard to transform

  4. ed borris says:

Bummer. I know the Russians won’t work, but I thought the French might work, can’t really see the details too well though.

  5. ed borris says:

Ohhh, I see they had bed rolls. No, they won’t work without a lot of carving double bummer.

  6. ERWIN says:

Ed,sorry I do not doubt at all you excellent carving/artist hand, you are awesome!!!.
Neither your eyes. But because I’m a pro uniform fanatic please permit w respect give you some minor tips-suggestion in Mexican infantry uniforms if you allowed me as just historical and accuracy detail and regarding best choices .
The best Napoleonic figures you may want to use to convert in to Mexican 1828/1848 period uniform or better (1830-1838) are those of armies with less ornate uniforms. Mexican army was very small and poor in money, only few regiments had the nice uniform and were those of mix Spain and French -post napoleon (Bardin) design style. Weapons were a mix of British and french Napoleonic and post Napoleonic .Mexican infantry above all barely or never used high boots or gaithers

in the fields but only(high boots) in mounted officer and few mounted cavalry.(so here is one detail, not high boots in infantry unless a high ranking officer). So any figures with shoes or low black gaithers/boots as figures of British Napoleonic infantry- are the best Pic-choose

The bed rolls was very well used indeed by them instead of the carry back pack, as they put the poncho with it as well either rolled or hanging and was easy to unfold out from the roll during walking marches.
The Mexican tunic(coat) has very few ornate and in very few units carry (epaulettes over shoulders) in both size ,most have the rare high fold shoulder pick seen in Marx Alamo shako figures, not common in Napoleonic regular infantry men either line/light or Jagger -skirmish units. Barely used during Napoleonic war at field and during short time by unites of Spain,Italy,Britain ,Austria and others. The Epaulets are to expensive to made, even after Napoleonic wars they start to dispersal in field uniforms on Europe.
The Mexican infantry soldier and NCO field coat-tunic does not have front (lapels)=or (the front large ornate double button plate in chest of coat design so obvious in french figures)
So here the top torso of french line or light unites should not be used x Mexican, best are Napoleonic period figures like Prussian followed by Russian and some not that accurate British. Spaniard are perfect but not done yet(hat) suppose to do those)

Here is the more easy to spot and to get right figure. The shako-or high hat of Mexican army.
They had two but the one more typical depicted is the best.
Often confused as been French-Napoleonic style. It is base in post 1814 French design and few units barely used in napoleon’s army in his last camping(100 days campaign)-it is a medium high flat top hat -shako with out plumes and almost not cords ornate and instead pon- pom on top in few units plus Mexico eagle plate in front. Some units used the cheap two colors round circle instead of metal/brass cooper eagle plate. It is not the shako base in the 1812-Bardin-french design short (less taller)French Napoleonic model depicted in many/most french figures done please!!!!.
The best choose for that are the Timpo heads/hats of Prussian soldiers ,or if want to use airfix French light(they were depicted as line but are more light skirmish infantry ) infantry heads only. Airfix shakos are low but poor in ornate and not plumes ,so that is why I mention it as a choice even are low than Mexico style shakos-hats
Also the first A call to arms British infantry set has figures with tall hats/shakos early British style very alike Mexican,(not use the later non flat top shako British style please) depicted in most post 1811 British figures
The heads with shakos of some AIP German ,British and French and those of Barzso too.
In Barzso few poses/bodies of American and Brit regular 1812/5 war are good as they have the pants lowered and uniforms not much ornate.
About pants/trousers. Mexican never used in field battle and barely in parade after 1830 any (breeches)=the tide to body/legs stretchy woolen cloth pants as those used in Napoleonic armies before 1815 and incorrectly depicted as field campaign used by french during war in most figures by the way)
Mexicans Only used loose treasures. Most made of canvas as differ of linen material(more expensive ) used by Europeans
So Mexican figures can not be in very tide/stretchy pants.
Again here best choice are Napoleonic British legs pants, the best suitable for it as British adapted x economic and practical use plus all times out their land in other countries the loose trousers pants with low boots and high med shoes marks.
I know this sound like legs from British, heads from others and probably Prussian /Russian body parts too much cut. But if want perfect detail adaptation and I’m sure you are very well able to do it ,it will give you a figure that barely no one could tell where come from and more historical uniform accurate.
    Hope this help a bit
    Best

  7. ed borris says:

    Erwin,

Thanks for the tips. I have never been a real stickler for uniforms, but try to stay as close to accurate as possible, but then I am more or less a victim of the figures that are made. I have used figures from a wide variety of makers, some of those that you have noted. I have been to the Alamo and have seen the period Mexican uniform they have on display which is much different than most makers of toy soldiers depict. If they are close and the untrained eye can’t pick out the differences I’ll use them, most people are trying to re-create the Marx Alamo, except they don’t want back packs, that seems to be the main complaint of Alamo collectors. Lately I have been using a fair amount of AIP British 95th Rifles parts especially the heads and of course the old standbys, Marx and CTS with a few Reamsa Spanish thrown in.
