Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

On behalf of Laurie, the boys (Sparky, Percy and Quinn) and myself  we wish everyone a Merry Christmas  and Happy Holidays.  We hope that you have a nice quiet Christmas.

We had a nice Christmas, we went out on Christmas Eve to one of our favorite restaurants Olive Branch. It a nice Middle Eastern Restaurant run by a great family. It is a mom and pop operation. The food is fresh, homemade and made to order. It is just declivous.  The wife is also a great baker and we took home two pieces of chocolate raspberry cake to eat later that night.

Today Laurie and I exchanged presents. I did not get any toy soldiers this year, which I was fine with. As I mentioned in previous Christmas messages, one Christmas all I got were clothes from my parents.  This upset me that I had to go out an buy some toy soldiers. Ever since then I have either received or gotten toy soldiers for Christmas.  This year I did not need to take care of that need as I had gotten a nice selection of figures in the previous month including some Pvblivs and Engineer Bassevitch figures.  Also I have gotten a number books and DVD’s. One of the books I got was The Comedians which is an history of comedy from vaudeville through today.

I  gave Laurie a sweater, automatic can operator and money.  Laurie gave me a bag of popcorn, some books and two bibs.  This last one you might find a strange gift, but for me, it is a great gift as I have propensity of getting food on my shirt.  I use a napkin as a bib when go out but some places the napkins are so small I know the food will hit every where but the napkins.

We got for the boys a bunch of tennis balls which Quinn is trying to keep to himself. They will also have a treat of some Turducken made by Blue Buffalo. We will eat at home. Sadly Laurie has to work tomorrow. I will do some flea markets and check out a dollar store.

Once again Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

I get strange gifts, I got a gift certificate to be used at next years OTSN for the Hyatt hotel, a back hoodie, a six back of Belgian beer and an extra large sweater. I am not an extra large and haven’t owned a sweater in like 30 years, not entirely true I still have my high school letter sweater, but I haven’t worn a sweater since my mid 20’s, I guess that’s 40 years. This is my first hoodie ever. I guess if I go out gang banging in the winter it will come in handy.

I drive 150 miles every holiday and weekend to go home from the job here in FT Benning, GA. I had to weave my way through the flooded areas to get home for Christmas and it looks like it’ll be the same or worse this week. I got my kids and friends together to ‘donate to the plastic soldier relief fund’. My load of AIP AWI guys and this latest load of Ideal recasts (in light blue and grey) came of that as well as the heads to convert the 3 shako-wearing poses. Sure beats a fruit cake. Wish me luck on my amphibious journey home tomorrow!
