Looks like demand has not refrain buyers because prices.

These are really well designed and sculpted figures. Who better to depict Russian soldiers than Russian artists? Part of the high cost of these figures may be tied to the Russian trade embargoes which are affecting the value of the Ruble. Also, scarcity helps create demand so the value can be kept high by limiting the quantity available. The re-issue means demand is still there, so the market is not saturated yet. They are not just great sculptors, but excellent businessmen as well.

Are they re-issuing Brest Fortress or the Soviet Naval Infantry?

  4. erwin says:

    Aldo is the Brest Fortress

Yes.They just pick the right investment and hobby in right time and moment. There definitely plenty buyers, specially in Europe x their figures and prices.
This is a collectible hobby, collecting require spend and in many cases high prices. Toy soldiers x long time are x adult, not any more x children. That is thing from the past. So now adults collectors have to spend and the cheap product will start disappearing as is happening already. Till other day AIP was the top on cheap production/sets versus prices. So far is dormant for long. Others were producing more often and lower prices, they had start producing less sets and less quantities plus increasing prices too.
I’m been saying same and many do not understand it. This hobby is very very slow when come to sale new production (least in figures sets). To get an artist do a correct anatomical figure with weapon take a great artist, otherwise we see errors and not that quality in poses else. Result is good when using great artist but that come to high cost and investor need/want money fast in recovery-consequence need to rise price and it bring slow sales. If using short run production like Russian two main companies now it is much better logic approach x investors as far there buyers and it had proved so far.

The Brest Fortress set is one of the best Pvblivs sets ever. I love the poses. Interestingly enough, many of them are actually unofficial “character poses” from a Russian film, 2010’s “Fortress of War” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortress_of_War which is one of many great Russian WW2 epics that are sadly unknown in Western Europe and N. America.

If you manage to watch the movie you will recognize several if not all of the figures in this set.

  7. erwin says:

Yes,you are correct . I notice same ,I had watch the propaganda movie as well last Stalingrad and battle of Sevastopol movie done recently in Russian and never officially released in US as always with most European movies. The characters are represented and in fact in same poses from film shot scenes if look well.
The last winter set is taken direct form last movie (battle of Sevastopol ) with the sniper Mykhailivna Pavlychenko character portrayed in movie and done in figure pose by Pvblivs. Many of last sets are more base in movies wile EB are more historical base in most case.
Russian film industry is releasing now plenty WW2 and other war film with a lot of great action, drama and in many cases better special-realism effect than many US movies. Of course super hero non historical plot as always.

Just wish Publius/Bassevitch would start doing some WW2 German,Finn,Polish figure sets as well and some “Modern” day sets like 1979 Afghanistan,Chechnya, etc.

    • Brian Johnson says:

PS Any one have info on who does the Russian sets of OMON and Taliban figures?I heard there was supposed to be a second set of the Taliban figures but haven’t seen any yet.

  9. Erwin says:

Brian so far that was just a rumor.I had ask few russian and they know nothing about other poses of early taliban set done.
But may be some could clear it x us

  10. Christian Aldo says:
