    I always liked those guys.

On another note less than a month to OTSN!!!!!!!!

  2. Greg Liska says:

I can’t go. I’m counting on vendors packing up and finding some imperfect figures in my category. Most of what I want would be trash or bargain stuff, anyhow.

  3. Greg Liska says:

On a similar note: Are the Renwal Cav figures to big for the 60mm Marx and Timmee guys? How big are they? I’ve been told 3 inch and 90mm. That’s a big difference.

  4. Bill Nevins says:

Renwal figures are about the size of the large Payton figures.
WAAAAYYY too big for 60 MM.

  5. Bill Nevins says:

If you’re looking for a good match to 60 mm cavalry figures try Reamsa. They made a few worthwhile poses that are close sizewise. Years back you could get Reamsa Western reissues in bags of 40 from Mexico for a couple of peso’s. You got Indians, Cowboys, Cavalry, Miners and Trappers and Mounties in every bag.
    I still have 3 or 4 bags.

Paul, did you bring these in?

I got mine from a relative who travelled back and forth to a shoe factory in Mexico.
I had him go to every toy store and buy up suitcases full of Marx repo’s and every other toy soldier, he could find. Got lots of interesting stuff from him.

I never brought the Reamsa figures from Mexico. I brought the Marx and also Auburn up. I know molds for MPC and Leya showed up there. The Reamsa and Jescan molds are in Spain and were brought in by other people.

  6. Greg Liska says:

OK. Scratch THAT purchase. Thanks. You saved me some money. I might want the Rel kneeling firing and the one making the funny arm motion, one of each color. The rest of the Rel guys (I think that’s just riders and drivers) are too small and not well done, in my opinion.

  7. Bill Nevins says:

Greg, There are photos of the Reamsa Cavalry and ACW figures on the ATS site. Check them out.
I love the Spanish figures. Some sculpts are hit and miss, but overall the variety and excellence of some of the lines, rivals the American makers.

The Western railroad workers set is just fantastic for a Western Town display.

    • Greg Liska says:

Thanks, Bill. I’m aware of them. I’m just swooping up the US stuff that was around when I was a kid. I never had the Timmees, my neighbor did. I didn’t like them too much, but now I know how to ‘fix them’ so that they will be good enough to fit with my largely WoW 60mm guys.

  8. Bill Nevins says:

Paul , So does that mean that the Mexican Reamsa figures were imported into Mexico from Spain? Or perhaps these are knock offs made with cheaper molds?

I still have a few unopened bags. I’ll dig them out and see what the header card says and I’ll take a few shots of the figures and bag.

REAMSA,JECSAN ,COMANSI,OLIVER,PECH HERMANOS and most Spaniards mold are all in Spain still. If any was copied by any body will be very interesting , specially if still in head bags what the card said are from!?
Mexico as well most Spanish speaking countries receive them for distribution/sale from Spain from late 50 till early 80’s.
Spaniards main brad were huge in selection and original, they varied in sizes from 56-75 mm scale on figures set and many are awesome figures and poses ,the historical detail is good but anatomical correct not that good still excellent toy figures and many base in Hollywood films. Agree they were very match with many old US brands and one of the two main European production in quality, quantity about plastic toy soldiers/figures sets, they even made large plastic Viking ,pirate ships, cannon,Sherman tanks, trucks large plastic bridge and the best palms for desert /else true 1:32/1:30 scale among many other acce, forts, western building, tents and ,train and castles. This is not counting the huge nativity sets made by then with plenty of civilian -romans and other figures in many scales that are very well suitable for any period as well ,I do have hundred of those in my personal collection for both purpose.Last they cover dinosaur, caveman, stone age and space with regular animal in huge large size sets too.
ATS got most reissue mold first introduced by Ric Bracamontes(Co.B) in 90’s direct from one of the Spain mold owner. No all same brand mold are in one hand ,after most main brand/company sold out their business they sold/split most mold among various buyers , some never reappear again, other are still semi active. There few others dealers carrying same sets who had purchased direct from main source in US and sale here.

Thanks Mike,I may contact you regards.
My Spaniard collection is huge I do have plenty Spaniard collectors friends/family who had swap and sale w me before too. On top of all the reissues first carry by Ric here and later with some sets from ATS that he manage to run with additional poses add on set not done before, specially Jecsan sets.
One of my favorites is my full set of original (Bridge over river Kwai) with all prisoner large tall bridge and Japanese poses.I manage to get it from a friend family long ago by a very good price .That set is a very high mark price in Spaniards collectors now and some here too. But is one my treasures.
I do not have many dinosaurs ,only one person had most of then here in US as far I know. I do have the pech hermanos and rare oliver caveman done in red color as “devil” rare set.
Trees and palms super beautiful well done in true 3D plastic and rubber too.

      • Mike Mullins says:

You do, indeed, have a treasure, as to the Bridge on the River Kwai. My friend sent me a large hard-cover book filled with pictures and information, written by a Spanish author. I have seen pictures of the various figures and accessories in the set. VERY NICE! There were MANY nice figures made in Spain. I will contact you off-site. Thank you. Mike

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! That was fast! Thanks to all who re-plied and sup-plied! I won’t physically have all the troops rallied until next weekend, but they are accounted for. Astounding! This weekend and the next will be spent getting them fit for my purposes; cleaning, repairing, converting, painting. Lots of work, but it’ll give me great pleasure. (insert loud Rebel yell here) Thanks again and thank you Paul, for airing my request!
