TSSD Future Figure Sets

Nick of TSSD has posted the following on his web site about future figure sets

TSSD CURRENTLY HAS 2 NEW FIGURE SETS

IN PRODUCTION IN SAN DIEGO, CA

SCULPTING IS IN PROGRESS FOR 16 NEW FIGURES

THIS PROCESS TAKES A LONG TIME AND COSTS A LOT  OF MONEY, AS YOU KNOW

***

SO WE MIGHT TRY SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT THIS TIME TO HELP WITH THE COSTS

SINCE WE STARTED MANUFACTURING, THE COSTS TO MAKE A SET OF 6 OR 8 NEW FIGURES HAS “TRIPLED”

WE HAVE NOW PRODUCED 28 DIFFERENT FIGURE SETS AND OVER 100 BUILDINGS,

PLUS DOZENS OF WEAPON TYPES, CHARACTER FIGURES,  HORSES AND ACCESSORIES

IT’S PRETTY TOUGH FOR OLD, BROKEN NICK, AGE 99, AND DeANNA, ( age-less beauty ), TO KEEP DOING THIS.

BUT, WE ARE BOTH COMMITTED TO THIS VERY EXCITING NEW PROJECT !!!!

( MAYBE….WE SHOULD JUST BE  “COMMITTED”,  PERIOD !? )

***

WE ARE CURRENTLY MAKING 2 NEW FIGURE SETS – 8 NEW POSES IN EACH SET – 16 NEW FIGURES TOTAL

AS WE HAVE DONE MANY TIMES IN THE PAST

TWO OPPOSING SIDES IN A CONFLICT

YOU KNOW ME….THERE IS A REASON THEY ARE CALLED TOY “SOLDIERS”  !!!!

BECAUSE THEY ARE INVOLVED IN A “CONFLICT”  aka  A WAR

“KICKSTARTER” IS ONE OPTION.  BUT I DON’T KNOW IF I WANT TO DO THAT.

SO, WE MAY LOOK AT FRIENDS, CUSTOMERS AND  SMALL  “INVESTORS” TO HELP FUND THESE 2 NEW PROJECTS

NOT THE WHOLE ENCHILADA….JUST A PART OF IT.  MAYBE JUST THE CHEESE PART.

AND OF COURSE FOLKS WOULD BE COMPENSATED IN SOME FORM

PROBABLY WITH “”TSSD DOLLARS” TO PURCHASE TSSD ITEMS

***

I’M STILL WORKING ON THE DETAILS

MORE INFORMATION TO COME FOR THESE 2 NEW PROJECTS

WE WILL HAVE MORE DETAILS AFTER WE RETURN FROM THE TEXAS SHOW

Glad they are back to 8 poses, hope it take then correct time and cost profit recovery soon. They deserve it as most do not understand the overtaken time and cost in this enterprise for so slow market.
Conflict and two opposing side??(may be a new war set never produced by then or others)!?
hope and wish KICKSTARTER take the hook as they are not too much in to toys, specially war related toy .
    Wishing the best of luck!!

I wish I could help Nick and Deana out, but my contribution is going to have to be limited to purchasing their product.

But here’s my guess about those 16 new figures, based upon absolutely NO inside information:

8 Eastern Woodland Indians v. 8 colonial frontiersmen

This is something I’d be completely happy with, but my alternative expectation would make me even happier:

    8 French Foreign Legionnaires v. 8 Arabs.

  3. Brian McIver says:

No inside information but I think it will be the war of 1812.

“No inside information but I think it will be the war of 1812.”

I know very little about this conflict and it wouldn’t usually interest me but would Nick’s Alamo cavalry tie in with this time frame? With these and 1812 Brits he’d have the starters for a Napoleonic range. I can see myself coming in on that.

    • erwin says:

Yes I t will, lancers with helmet recently done are the most better match!!,even some Alamo Mexicans Alamo soldiers could pass for same era too.

  5. TDBarnecut says:

TSSD could offer shares to the collectors. (IPO!) You could invest a little or a lot and be vested in the outcome. The bigger investors would form a board to make decisions about what kind of figures to make. Not saying this would be a profitable enterprise, but it’s how a lot of things get done in the U.S.A.

Not a bad idea at all but I’m wonder if this will bring the Corporation business concept instituted and it will work good legally in TSSD favor plus profit end!?Corporation are good as far all are in accord ,but some times bring too much conflict and issues. Still the benefit if shares in so small hobby is a great idea and point .

Upon reflection, I’m thinking (guessing) that Brian McIver very well could be correct —- Battle of Tippaccanoe too would be War of 1812. It would allow Nick to use his previously sculpted woodland Indian (which Nick told me once he would not let go to waste after he paid to have it sculpted) as a Tecumsah Shawnee warrior fighting American troops which would be uniformed (I think) as War of 1812-style American Regulars.

We’ll see if this all can be logic-ed out, or whether Nick just chooses to do something completely unexpected, without ryme or reason. Nick really isn’t one to be overly secretive about these things, so it will probably leak out before too long.

I will like this war too be represented ;,just wondering if these figures are done they won’t match scale with barzso same era scale figures that were great but limited run playset and some sets no longer done. In my opinion I don’t care about size as I see it as small and tall person in the field and space scene display could change the appearance .But I know some will be not that happy to the match of two different scales and I don’t understand.
For me any figures new is more than welcome and TSSD had done a good quality sculpting and poses dynamism in their poses sets. I got all Barzso and love then too but the resin material was so fragile and mold weapons/faces some times come with defect.
So far only other involve in this war 1812 figures production recently other than AIP generic figures is Ducote (Heritage Toy Figures, Inc.)
May be they will go for VIET NAM after last promised sets never come out so far from Stengel.
Could some body brake the ice that melt down the toy soldier furor at stores back in the 70″s!?.The so call peace movement that took children normal dreams out of stores.

Erin, just before Ron Barzso released his Lexington and Concord Playset, Nick of TSSD announced he would be doing an American Revolution line of figures. He posted his first sculpt on the TSSD website of a Mohawk-looking Indian standing and leaning forward firing a long musket. Shortly thereafter, Nick announced that he and Ron Barzso had come to an agreement that Ron was further along on the Barzso American Revolution line, and that Nick would pursue a different topic (Nick and Ron are pretty good friends). Nick dropped his planned Revolutionary line, and pursued his Roman v. Barbarian playset instead.

While placing a phone order for something else, I spoke to Nick, and he said he had no intention of just permanently foregoing that first sculpt — which was, in fact, quite well done. He said one day in the future he planned to come back to it. The figure would have fit in quite well with a Tecumseh v. William Henry Harrison (Tippacanoe and Tyler too!) — Battle of Fallen Timbers era, which would also be War of 1812 era.

And that short story and comment is the sole source of all my current speculation.

  8. erwin says:

Thank you Don for the update, never heard or see any till you mention it. Interesting fact about the figures and tale too. I appreciate your answer very much.!!!

  9. Eddie White says:

Recall that on April 1st on the TSSD website as an April Fool’s joke Nick listed all the figures coming out…….April Fool’s…….however as I pointed out then the War of 1812 was mysteriously mentioned several times in the list. The Shawnee/Frontiersmen sounds great as the Frontiersmen could also be used in the Alamo. Afterall, 1815 is 200 years prior to 2015.
