When I decided to do an article on Joe Franklin I went in to part of Stad’s Stuff I can not normally get access. For years I used a program called Front Page. The problem was Microsoft dropped the program and I could not get a replacement at a reasonable price. I moved over to Word Press which is a great program.
When I was gathering my article on Joe Franklin, I found three pictures I wanted to share again,
The first one was this interesting cowboy I got on a trip to UK. I liked the pose and added it to my collection. I had someone out of no where, wanting to buy it. I said no, the person tried again saying that he had been promised this figure by someone, but they died before they could send the figure to my caller. I replied no as I had no idea when I would see the figure again. Also I do not like when people use a story like that. Whether true or not I hate when people tried use that tactic. I have not seen the figure since.
This picture was from Mark Hegeman and shows a MPC display of the their various ring hand figures.
Here is some interesting pirates. I have no idea who made them.
what scale are those pirates aprox!?
He almost looks like an Atlantic figure without the stupid look on his face. Nice sculpting on the coat, they really captured the action with him.
Something tell me they are of Spaniard/French factory by the style
Hello Paul,
I’ve seen those pirates on the forum. I think they’re french made (RF? Guilbert?)
Best regards
Hello Mathias
You may be right, I tried to go back to the spot and can not find it.
Interesting, Kent has that same cowboy figure on his site under his Cherilia tab, with a statement not Cherila who made them. Looks like the same picture too.

Yes that is interesting on the figure. It was an odd place to put the photo it should have been in his news section. The center figure running with saw off Winchester is by Charbens and could be Josh Randall from Wanted Dead or Alive The other figures except for the cowboy with satchel are likely Italian, if so Cane would be who I would say who made them.
He is a decent figure I like him.
Ed, pardon this off-topic intrusion, but I just confirmed my Indy Show reservations for the Friday and Saturday nights preceding the April 12 show, along with my usual roommate, Bill Skinner. I’m splitting a table with Mr. Skinner on the Sunday morning show, just for the fun of being in there early with all the dealers setting up. I’m presuming you and Mike Kutnick will be there again this year. My question is this: Do either you or Mike recall the name of Rick Eber’s roommate at OTSN? It seems he’s always at OTSN with Rick, but typically not at Indy.
I note that Indy is now just 70 days away, but who’s counting! I can’t afford major excursions to both OTSN and Indy every year, so I thought I would rotate —- OTSN last year, Indy this year. But it’s painful for me to ever pass on OTSN.
You should go back to the Toy Soldier HQ site and compare this cowboy with pistol and satchel with the Atlantic 60mm cowboy figure under the “Laws and Outlaws” photo — the one with the hanging bandit. The 2 figures (Atlantic and Cherilea) look like one was copied from the other.
It is very possible that the designer of the cowboy also worked for Atlantic. Sadly Atlantic is one company I have very little history on the company.
I believe Bob Jones is Eber’s roomie.
Thank you, Bill. Now that you mention it, it seems like that’s the name I heard. Since I know Rick Eber is from New York (I’m thinking Bill Nevins and Bob Jones are, too) I figured that’s why Rick, with his full complement of playsets, would attend both OTSN and Indy, but his roommate friend from New York (Bob Jones) would find Indianapolis, smaller than OTSN, to be a little too far away to justify.
Don
I should see Bob Jones at show in March and hopefully I can find out why he does not go to Indianapolis.
Thank you. When I go to these shows, Rick Eber has so many Marx rarities and high-priced stuff that at OTSN I always find I buy more from Mr. Jones, his roommate. But as I mentally and emotionally prepare for Indy (70 days away, but whose counting?!), it occurred to me that at Indy Rick Eber is usually in a room all to himself.
Don, Yes, we are all from NY. However, Bob is from upstate around West Point somewhere and I believe Ric is from Syracuse, which is further north than Bob.
I’ve known Bob for 30 years or so, from the usual shows that I used to do.
I do not know Eber, except by reputation.
I live on Long Island, which is closer to NYC.
NY is a huge state.
