Jean/ Big Train

DSCF5109

Another one of our friends from Germany Markus Leckscheid has sent us some interesting photos which he has allowed to share with you. The first one we have here is a Jean/ Big Train boxed set from Germany. Markus has put two Jean 60mm figures next to the train to show that it was designed by for 60mm figures.  This is the first time  I have seen one.

Ohhh, I like that Jean figure on the bottom, don’t think I have ever seen him before.

I like that figure too; it is one of the 8 poses done for the US cavalry dismounted set (being shot),indeed very original pose as most Jean Hoefler western /Indian poses as well.

For lack of a better place to post this, the TSSD website reports that Bill McMaster of BMC playsets has just passed away unexpectedly.

I am really sorry to hear this as Bill was a great guy and we had many pleasant times with him. As I noted I talked to him at East Coast Toy Soldier Show and he had some projects planned. He will be missed

Further to my earlier comment on Mike Kutnick, I also met Bill Mcmasters at the 2011 Texas show where he was set up next to Gary Dutko. I talked him throughout the show on various occasions. He told me how he would love to do a Fredricksburg playset. He was a great guy & friendly to talk with. I also told him he was one of the reasons I had returned to the toy soldier hobby after picking up his Gettysburg playset while over on a trip to New York from the U.K. In about 1996. Sad to hear of his passing.

Yes Bill was a great guy. Laurie and I always like to talk to him. We offered to take him out for a meal if he visited his son who was going to a local college. Sadly that did not happen.

Yes, He was a very nice man – one of the truly nice guys in the hobby. I believe he will be missed in more ways than one.

Bummer, sorry to hear that. The hobby will miss him.
