More on the Barzso Roman Coliseum

Jim Clouse of Barzso Playset posted on the Hobby Bunker Forum more information on the forth coming Roman Coliseum. Jim said it is not a playset and can be bought in sections.  A straight section is about 14.75″ in length and 7.75 inches tall. The curve section is around 22″‘.

Jim also stated that he was hoping to have sculpted a third piece which will be the “emperor’s box/ main entrance”. It will be a straight piece also 14.75 inches in length.

Jim confirmed that they are working on a bag set of spectators and possible gladiators.  They hope to have that for OTSN.

Jim also discussed the Yorktown Playset and said that was on hold indefinitely. No word if the figures will be made either.

Unfortunately but true, as previews comments from adm say: Most of today production in order to make some profits focus on the most collectible/hot items because of the film/TV industry with the game/hobby followers of new and mid generation demanding too. Been the most important (ww2) late period with German, US, Japs and Russians, the US civil war/Napoleonic, recently ancient/Greek / roman classic period, followed by independence war and others. The only company able to overcome this has been so far AIP with the colonial period and ww1 series so much needed. About ww2 I have always wanted for the early period (1939-1942) with Polish, French, British, Greeks, Dutch and others with their armor. I’m getting a bit tire of seen so many repeated Germans and US infantry 1943-1945 periods FIGURES/ITEMS. What about the Filipina 1942 campaign with US infantry old uniforms/weapons!.History is FACTS; wherever that period of defeats/victories is sad but true, do not means could not be represented!?.Still the question come back (how much support/demand will this period/set have!?.Because of the lack of money on the few producers and fear of lost..The time and delay for new figures/else to appear is always the most important fact in this Hobby. Let’s pray for it to continue and not go down. Video game has created a very poor non historical new generation followers that will prefer to make history as a game and not as accurate. We all wish to have all before we go, but so far I can say I have live a time of changes where the old generation gives us the teaching of the TOY soldier’s true meanings and same time the go on with more effort to keep it alive with our new ideas…

Over the years Barzso products have been associated with the word” quality”. This arena will certainly have that Barzso quality and pride that is a trademark of his and Jim’s who does a terrific job of sculpting. Imagine the possibilities: your Ben Hur figures will now have a bigger and better stadium, Pegasus Gladiators can be used, how about TSSD Romans and Barbarians, how about Conte’ painted figures, the possibilities are endless. And to the best my knowledge, no one has done a Roman Coliseum since Marx did for Ben Hur. It will fill a niche for collectors in today’s market.
