Toy Hunter Taboo Toys

Jordan is in Los Angeles  at Frank and Son a gigantic  toy show held on every Wednesdays and Saturdays. (Frank & Son is actually in City of Industry, California). At the show Jordan meets Taboo of the Black Eye Peas. Taboo buys an OJ Simpson Figures and Three Rocky figures for $235.00  Jordan tells Taboo they are worth $500.00 Looking at EBay I feels the items are work between 250 and $400.00 tops. Jordan buys one of the large 24 inch Shogun Warriors in the box for $200.00. Jordan feels he can sell it for $350.00. Checking EBay I found one  24 inch Shogun Warrior at $379.00 and another at $319.00. Taboo tells Jordan that he looking for rare carded wrestling figures.  Jordan starts the hunt.

Jordan and Steve Savino go to Louisville Kentucky to the house of Connie, Connie’s late husband had worked for Hasbro and she had a load of toys up in the attic. Jordan and Steve followed Connie up to the attic  In the attic, Steve finds a My Little Pony  Loving Family Animals  mint in the box.  Jordan smirks to Connie that men who collect My Little  Pony are called bronies. Steve pays $50.00 and  he feels it will sell for $110.00. I could not find any examples on EBay. Next Steve finds Oscar Mayer Wienermobile  Pedal Car.  Steve pays $350.00 and will try to sell it for $500.00. I found two examples of the Wienermobile on EBay one for $99.99 and another $329.99.  Jordan then finds a Megatron Lucky Draw Beast Wars mint in the box.  The box is in Japanese and is called  Lucky Draw as this version was prize in a contest. Jordan tells Connie it is only the second one he has seen one and it is worth $2500.00. Jordan is only able to get the figure after paying $2000.00. This one gets interesting. A comment on Twitter stated that Jordan had placed a price of $7000.00 on the figure. In another tweet Jordan said he had to sent another check to Connie. Checking EBay I saw two Lucky Draw in plain white boxes for  $400.00 and $800.00.

Unhappy that they did not find any wrestling figures at Connie’s, Jordan and Steve go to Louisville, Kentucky. In Louisville, Steve has a contact Tim, who has a large wrestling collection. Jordan is impressed with the collection, but it is almost all loose figures. Jordan does find a Macho Man Randy Savage on the card for which he pays $80.00. Jordan figures he can sell it for $150.00 to Taboo.  I could not find any examples on EBay.  Jordan and Steve go to Clearwater Florida. There they going to Hulk Hogan’s Beach Shop and meet with Ron. Ron takes them into the back room where they start looking at various items  including the Hulk Hogan Workout Set. The man himself Hulk Hogan pops in.  Hulk offers Jordan the rare black carded Hulk Hogan to Jordan. LJN when sales were dropping passed the line to another company.  This company issued the figures on black cards and are rare. Hulk tells Jordan it is worth a thousand and forces Jordan to pay $700.00. Checking EBay I found three examples of the Hulk Hogan figures for over a thousand dollars each.

The last sections shows Jordan selling the figures to Taboo and Jordan has another client.

This is another celebrities episodes, which many people do not like. These episodes  do not impress me at all. so you have celebrity as  a client, they can get very demanding. I am happy to help the average client in finding their wants.

Frank and Son I felt got short shift. This is amazing place to see if you are in Los Angeles area. It has dealers that are permanent  and people who set up for one day. I visited Frank and Son with my wife Laurie and friend about 10 years ago. At Frank and Son, I learned how the internet had changed things. I was talking with a dealer, who was telling that series six of the Simpsons was available in China and would not be available here for a few months, so someone could ordered over the figures and have them here before their release in the United States.

The thing that annoyed me the most was Jordan attitude toward Steve. Jordan is always looking down on what Steve buys. Steve is the true toy hunter. I have met Steve several times and I have great respect for him. Jordan is just a pretty face. I was very annoyed on Jordan’s comment on Brony, men, who collect My Little Pony. It came off wrong to me. If I ever met Jordan again we will have a little discussion on it.

Next episode is “Duke of Toys” where Jordan goes to the United Kingdom. I saw the clip on the Toy Hunter web page and was very unimpressed.  More comments after I see the this episode.

Good stuff man, but don’t be fooled by the way Jordan treats Steve..he makes him look stupid for buying my little ponies and stuff but he knows he’s helping him by doing so..In the end, Steve always gets the best deals..Those ponies he got are worth way more then what he payed for or said they were worth.. They know what they’re doing, they’re just playing the seller to get a better deal

Welcome, I realize that much on these “reality” shows are made up. Still I was concerned by the way it was presented. Steve is a true toy hunter, and he has my respect I have talked to Steve on several occasions and have enjoyed our conversations He knows his stuff. He know his stuff Jordan on the other hand I am not impress with.
