Toy Show Merchants Square

Today I did the toy show at Merchants Square in Allentown PA. This show was under a cloud this year because a snow storm was due on the day of the show. I still planned to do it as it was only 5 miles from the house and the major part of the snow was not due until later in the day. If the show had been a distance from the house I would have past on it. I have done enough snow driving to know it is not worth it.
One other thing working in my favorite of doing the show was Laurie had to work today and the show was less than a mile more from her job. Laurie does not like to drive in snow, where I have no problems. I took Laurie to work and went to the toy show. I got to the show and saw not many cars in the parking lot. Undaunted I got out and headed in.
As soon as I was in the show, I saw that about 40% to 50% of the dealers were missing. The promoters had the dealers that had come to the show spread out to cover the tables. There were still a few empty tables. I started to walk around. There a number of dealers with loose figures in bags. The only playset I saw was a Western Ranch playset. Many of the bags that I saw were over price so I passed on them. I did find several bags I could used, a bag of Marx and Ideal ladders and a bag of the Cereal premium weapons. From another dealer I found some Marx hard plastic band figures I need for a collector in France. For myself I found two hard plastic civilian figures.
One unusual figure I saw was a Marx 54mm Mounted Roy Rogers on a rearing Trigger. The dealer listed the figure as a Marx prototype. The mounted 54mm Roy Rogers was waving instead of pistol. Trigger was not a typical Marx horse. It looked like a Stuart rearing horse. Both the Roy rogers and Trigger were painted. I did not ask the price as I noticed that dealer had high prices on other items.
I only saw two people I knew, John Reichel and Ken Chapman. Ken is a dealer, I have known for years. Ken was looking items for resale. I met a new person,Ted who had some interesting items on his table. Ted had some resin WWI pilots he had made for model kits. The figures were well detailed and had no bubbles. When I introduced myself Ted replied he had bought from me on EBay.
I left after 45 minutes. On the way out I stopped at KD Smith auctions to look at auction for Friday and see if I could do photos due to Baggage Battles being at the show.
