Toy Hunter Bucks Rodgers Bet

Jordan Hembrough is in Las Vegas with his assistant Julia Collier. This is Julia’s first buying trip. They are going to Movie Mike who is suppose to have Mego Buck Rogers toys that Jordan needs for Felix Silla, who paid Twiki the robot on Buck Rogers. Jordan also has to buy items to make this trip worthwhile. Before they go to Mike, Jordan and Julia go and visit Dorothy. The first item that Jordan finds is a Rainbow Brite Tea Set mint in the box, which Jordan pays $25.00 and plans to sell $40.00. Checking EBay I found only one example, a loose set for $69.99. Next Jordan finds the LJN Michael Jackson Doll for $30.00 and will sell it for $60.00.Looking at EBay the Michael Jackson Doll sells between$31.99 to $99.99.  Dorothy has a nice lot of She-Ra Princess of Power figures and accessories.  Two of the pieces Swift Wind and Enchanta are worth $140.00.  EBay has the two items going between $77.00 to $130.00 each.

Next Jordan and Julia go to Dan’s. There Jordan finds a C3P0 Cereal box which Jordan pays $15.00 and plans to sell the box for $40.00. The C3P0 cereal boxes are being offered on EBay between $45.00 to $59.00. Next Jordan finds an Indian Jones Desert Convoy Truck. The truck is not mint it is missing cardboard  inserts so Jordan pays $90.00. I missed the price that Jordan planned to sell the truck for, on EBay the truck goes between $159.99 to $299.99. The last items that Jordan buys is a set of Mutant Ninja Turtles with dinosaurs. Jordan pays $250.00 and plans to sell the set for $400.00. I could not find any examples on EBay.

Finally Jordan and Julia go to Movie Mike for the Mego Buck Rogers. Before Jordan looks at the Mego Buck Rogers, Jordan first looks at Mike’s reproduction of Fred Krueger’s Glove. Jordan pays $200.00 and plans to sell for $350.00. Looking at EBay, the majority of the gloves sell below $125.00. The one exception is a glove signed by Robert Englund for $249.99. Next Jordan finds a set of Mego Black Hole Figures on the card, which he buys for $310.00 and will sell for $600.00. The carded Black hole figures sell between $25.00 $50.00 on EBay. Finally Mike brings out the items Jordan has come for the Mego Buck Rogers figures on the card. Jordan offers $60.00 for the four carded figures which Mike has and it accepted. The card figures go on EBay as low as $24.00 and high as  50.00 each. One party on EBay is trying to get $124.99 for a Buck Rogers figure.

The final section has Jordan and Julia waiting in the desert waiting for Felix Silla to show up. Jordan is worried as meetings in the desert are to get whacked.  A limo pulls up and it is Felix in the back. Jordan gets into the back with Felix. Jordan has the carded figures and two  of the rocket ship toys from the show. They negotiated price and Jordan sells the items to Felix for $800.00.

First item I want to mention is the blurb advertising Travel Channel had on the show on the Toy Hunter web site was complete wrong. In the blurb for Buck Rogers Bet, it was stated the Julia made a purchase that had her in hot water until she contacts a famous client.  That information is incorrect, in fact Julia does not do any buying at all during the show.  Julia is just window dressing on the episode. Julia does not make one purchase, Jordan should have allowed her to make a purchase. The show is all Jordan. The prices of the items picked on this episode were around the going price or better. The selling to Felix Silla was contrived, because if Felix wanted these items he could ask his fan base for help. None of the Buck Rogers items Jordan  sold Felix are really rare and Jordan did not sell a complete set of the carded Figures.

One interesting note, Julia Collier is listed on IMDB with some very minor roles in television and movies.

Jordan was asking people to help him get to three thousand followers and he had a bet with Steve. I tweet him to find out how far away he was and what was the bet, but got no reply.

Next episode is Caribbean Booty where Jordan goes to Puerto Rico to sell at the comic con there.

Hey Stad, I’m now ready to see your comments on last night’s show where Jordan was in Puerto Rico at the ComicCon. I had a few opinions on the episode, but wanted to see your summary and thoughts first. Actually, I tend to agree with one of your past observations: I find the show kind of boring. My wife and I always enjoy American Pickers and also Pawn Stars. So I basically like the theme of finding, buying, and selling vintage items, but for some reason I can’t quite put my finger on, Jordan’s hypped-up approach just doesn’t seem all that exciting.

      Don
Laurie agrees with you as she finds Toy Hunter boring too. I feel one reason for the feeling of bore is Jordan’s style of talking and personality, he comes off as a high pitch salesman, where Pickers and Pawn Stars comes as common people. Interesting in a tweet Jordan did last night he stated that he looked at the camera, which he was told not to do.
I will have my report on the Puerto Rico episode by Tuesday.
