Toy Hunter Toy Tycoon

Jordan Hembrough takes  Travis a young toy dealer that we met in season one with him to go toy hunting in Massachusetts. If Travis does well Jordan will take him to C2E2 the big comic convention in Chicago. Jordan goal for C2E2 is to make a profit of $20,000.00 so he can buy a massive collection in Louisiana.

They first go to a yard sale run by Michelle. Jordan buys a Rubik’s Cube in the box for $20.00. Checking EBay I found two similar cubes in the box for $24.99 and $26.63. Travis buys a Sears Tele-Games Super Pong. I do not have the price that Travis paid, I do see one on EBay for $89.99.  The last item Jordan buys from Michelle is an Alvin and the Chipmunks Touring Van in the box for $30.00 and plans to sell it for $50.00. I could not find an examples up on EBay.

Next Jordan and Travis go to Steve, a toy dealer. The first item that Jordan finds is a Mattel Hot Wheels  Service Center, which he buys for $75.00 and plans to sell for $150.00. Looking at EBay, I found one example at $1100.00. Next item that Jordan buys is the Remco MacDonald Playland. This item was only issued once while the dolls were issued several times. Jordan pays $200.00 and plans to sell it for $300.00. I could not find any examples of this item on EBay. Travis finds Rock Lords which they buy, but no prices are given.  Steve shows Jordan the Droids Boba Fett doll on a card. Jordan offers $2200.00 for the figure, but Steve wants three times that figure, so Jordan passes.  This was a good idea on Jordan’s part as one of the Droids Boba Fett sealed graded AFA85 sold on EBay in an auction for $3525.01.

Jordan and Travis go to Bob where they strike gold, first Travis finds a Transformer Jet Fire in the box. Travis is able to get it for $200.00 and will sell it for $300.00. I checked EBay and found one at $275.00.  Bob has one of Jordan’s grail pieces the Mattel Battlestar Galactica Landram. This piece is interesting as the vehicle can have treads or wheels. Bob wants $9000.00 so Jordan passed on it. Bob then takes Jordan and Travis to his G.I. Joe Room, where Bob had on display the  G.I. Joe Aircraft Carrier. This is one of the largest pieces done for G.I Joe. Bob also has one mint sealed in the box which Jordan is able to buy for $4000.00. Looking at EBay I found several loose ones at $1349.99 and $1529.99. There were two box set one in the original shippers box for $3799.00 Shippers box has some water damage. another party has one with a box 100% complete and had been on display for a short time at $2800.00.

The last section of the show is Travis with Jordan at the C2E2. They set up the stand and with help of David everything is  put together except the G.I, Joe Aircraft Carrier  is placed on its side instead of right side up. Jordan complains that he does not have the room. The show starts and people are buying, but no one is looking at the G.I, Joe Aircraft Carrier. David and Travis finally convince Jordan to flip the box to right side up and it sold to a gentleman for $6000.00.

I am curious why they had Travis on this episode, the young man did nothing wrong and I like his enthusiasm.  Are they grooming him for more shows?  The yard sale in my book was a set up.  The items they got do not last at yard sales.  You have to be early at the yard sales and even then you can lose out. The Mattel Battlestar Galactica Landram is an interesting item. It is one of the rarest Battlestar pieces because it was only issued in Canada. I do not remember if that fact was mention on the show.  The G.I, Joe Aircraft Carrier is a big item, when I was doing my research on the Aircraft Carrier, I found one dealer wanted $150.00 for shipping and another wanted $250.00 for shipping. In a tweet that Jordan did during the show, he mention the person that bought the G.I, Joe Aircraft Carrier had spent $10,000.00 the day before at a different stand. I wondered if that other sale  annoyed Jordan and what the person bought.

The only complaints with this episode were in the beginning Jordan called it  the largest toy show. I would disagree as the same weekend was Kane County, which many consider the biggest toy show in the country.  The other item was Jordan took credit for the flipping of the box, which was someone else’s idea.  It is better to let someone else take the credit for a good idea.

Next episode is the Buck Rogers Bet where Jordan takes Julia on a buying trip to Las Vegas.  Originally they had stated the next episode was to be Puerto Rico, but changed it.  We will see if this is the last episode of the season or will get one more.
