Lincoln

lincoln Recently when I was going through a flea market, I found this figure of Lincoln. I instantly recognized it as Mold-A-Rama piece. Mold-A-Rama figures were first done in the 60’s. They were vending machines that would produce in 30 seconds various figures and pieces  most famously the Sinclair Dinosaurs at the 1964 World’s Fair. I got the Brontosaurus at the 16964 World’s Fair, which I still have. Laurie, who like dinosaurs I was able to get for her a complete set of the dinosaurs. Over the years, I had gotten other figures and pieces as the some of the machines are still in various zoos and museums. I did research on the internet and found out the Lincoln figure was done for the 1964 World’s Fair.  Mold-A-Rama had a machine at the Illinois Pavilion.  I also found a site that had some history on the company, that web site  is www.moldville.com. The company was started by J H Miller who had done the plaster GI figures in the early 50’s. Miller later made the plastic dinosaurs and aliens.  This company went out of business in 1960. Miller developed the Mold-A-Rama which first appeared at the 1962 World’s Fair.

Moldville has weekly club plan where you get newly made pieces from old Mold-A-Rama molds. If you are into  Mold=A-Rama check it out. The Lincoln figure will be add to my small collection of Mold-A-Rama pieces.
