Marx Boonnesborough Pioneers Color Variation

One of the surprises at the Marx Convention this last week was to see the Marx Boonesborough Figures in a red brown.  The figures were on Rick Eber’s table. Rick told us he had gotten them from a collector who  had gotten them from Rick Koch. Rick Koch is a noted collector and dealer.  Rick Koch had told the other party that he had acquired them in Canada. I pick up one of the figures and the weight was of Marx orginial figure not a reissue.

We also got a set of the Marx Boonesborough pioneers in blue from Joe Falce.  These figures had been found by Calvin Plowman. These figures are in a shiney blue and had turn up several years ago at the Marx meet. I hope to get some more information on them in near future before I can classify them as reissue or original.

We would like to thank permission from Rick Eber to show his red brown Boonesborough pioneers

Interesting as I do have some re-cast Boonesboro Pioneers in a red brown, You could tell they were re-casts though and some problem existed with the mold, a couple had stumps for arms and the bases were cracked.

I am aware of the red brown recasts. I have seen the picture of the two on Eric’s Marx site. The ones Rick has seem the right weight I will have to look this color and compare. If Rick still has them at O.T.S.N. you can look for yourself. I mention to Rick that reissues exist in that color. Problem is we have limited information on the Marx Canadian production. I mention to Rick that I had seen the figures in yellow over in the UK

Ed, These figures are very detailed, even more so than the original tan/butterscotch brittle figures you find in the Boonesboro playsets. They are also a soft plastic that is very flexible as well very flat finish looking. They were sold by a very well respected collector/ dealer , Rick Koch, and he stated he got them on a trip to Canada.

I got a batch of Booneboro figures in several different colors from the late Erik Reinikka maybe 2 years before the re issues stared to show up. He would not tell me where he got them from, but they are red/brown, Marx blue, Aqua or Turquoise and green. The plastic is not re issue plastic.
I always suspected that these were test shots, but I have no solid proof either way.
Does anyone else have these colors or know where they may have come frome?
