Odds and ends

People asked me if I know if certain movie or television stars are plastic figures.  Honestly I have heard rumours on certain people, but I know only if a person is a collector through what I read in the paper or the internet.  One of the people I am asked about is Robin Williams. From what I have read Robin had a large plastic figure collection that he played with as a child. Robin gave them up when his father told him the horrors of war. I know Robin has metal figures and he shared an amusing story recently in his remembrance of his friend and idol the late Jonathan Winters that was published in the New York times. Both Jonathan and Robin collected metal soldiers including Napoleonic figures.  One day Robin received a package from Jonathan Winters. In the box were women in various stages of undress.  With the figures was a note “For Ze Troops”.

The Horrible Histories figures we mentioned  are now available in the UK. You can got to Amazon. UK to see the various ways they are being sold.  You can get them in mystery packs which contains one figure to starter sets. The larger sets come with a catapult that uses pigs as ammo.  We will review them in near futre as samples are on the way.

The Gettysburg Toy show is on April 28,2013 in Gettysburg PA.  Laurie and I will not be there as we have other commitments.

Someone asked me what I shipped him in box in 1988.  I have no  idea. I was not being nasty, the problem is I have had shipped over 30,000 packages since 1978! Before closing the business, Bill did most of my packing. I do the packing now and I  rarely remember a package after a week or two as there more that have to be shipped.

Brian Johnson has informed us that the Timmee C130 is  back.  You can get the information  at the site below.

TSSD has not told what their new sets will be. They only note that the figures are being scuplted right now. they have two new Alamo buildings coming out late this month or early May.

Nick’s wife told me just this morning (when I was placing a small order with TSSD) that the new figure set will be Alamo figures. If I understood her correctly, the set will have both Mexicans and Texan Defenders in it.

That is great news, been a lot of speculation lately – particularly since Nick’s hint on is site.

I wish someone would dig out or find the molds to the Timmee Deuce-and-half. The prices on ebay are crazy. One piece I really regret never buying when they were 59 cents at Woolworth’s.
