Marx Color Variations Uncovered For Gunsmoke Character Figures

Ed Boris has sent us pictures of two sets of Gunsmoke character figures Chester and Matt Dillon.  These figures were purchased in  a lot of figures. The posting stated that they were Marx or Plastimarx in 60’s. When the figures were recieved it was discovered that the figures under the paint were in peach or silver!

As you can see each of the figures has a slug  stating the CBS  copyright. These are the first two sets of the figures to show up from Mexico. There are many questions to be answered. Are there other color variations out there? Did they did do all four character figures?  Do we classify these as variations. I had thought the figures as reissues until Ed pointed out that listing stated they were made in the 60’s. Plastimarx was part of Marx at that point? does the mold still exists? Finally what are these variations worth? Are they equal to or greater than the cream figures in value.  There is much to think about.

We thank EdBoris for letting us share these photos of an very important find.
