I have been doing flea market since 1967. In that time I have seen the birth and the deaths of flea markets.  I have been to big markets and to small markets here in the United States and Europe .  This year I have not been heavy into the markets due to commitments and the competition.  Still I go to the markets hoping to catch what is missed.

I did my Wednesday Market and found a few interesting items. Flea Market Finds Peter Evans Finds July Finds

From one stand I found this odd cavalry figure. I hope someone know who made it. The woman was from one of the first stands I stopped at. My figuring she is from  music box. The dealer only wanted fifty cents so I  figure I can make a base.

This damaged wall accessory popped up in a bag of China copies of  Matchbox British 8th army figures. I do a lot of repackaging for resale.

I picked up The Flash for my super hero collection.  There only so many Batman and Superman figures you can collect.  Beside the above figures, I got a several Imaginext figures.

Peter sent in the box these ninjas.  Checking with our ninjas figure expert Erwin Sell, he says that they were made by  Red Box. The figures first turn up in 1993 in a playset. It will be interesting if these figures were made by Red Box or another company.Flea Market Finds Peter Evans Finds July Finds

The figure on the left I have no idea who he is.  Laurie will get the alien figure for her collection.  Snow White must be a series of figures.

The Space Marines and accessories are from the WalMart “The Corps” set available in several kinds of packaging.

I am pretty sure the Indian with tomahawk is a Jean Hoefler conversion with a rider’s torso on a footman’s legs.

The Hulk is from a Marvel kids’ toothbrush available about 5 years ago. My son had one when he was seven. We got it at Big Lots. It was attached to the brush by a little chain. My son and I were very displeased when my wife threw the Hulk out with the toothbrush. There were other Marvel toothbrushes with figures in the series.

Not sure about the cavalry figure, but it reminds me of the cartoonish western figures from Fisher Price sets or a knock off version.

I really like the fantasy figure with the trident! I’d like to know more about that one. I think the alien comes from a set you can get at Oriental Trading.

The Indian actually looks more like a Jean Hoefler clone than an original. Not quite as fine detail and the hands are a bit messed up. This pose was definitely not in the original Hoefler series. The torso is almost identical to one of the mounted figures.

I agree it is a copy. I like when figures are copied they are changed in some way to make a differrent and new figure.

After I posted the article. I started to think about the Walmart set which I do not remember if I bought it or not. we have a company called Five Below where everything is $5.00 or less. they get candy with top of super heroes you can take off.
I figure the cavalry figure is Fisher price but could not find any markings.
I am sure you are right onthe alien. laurie likes it so it is hers. I think the fantasy figure is superhero related. We will see

Peter Evans feel the figure with the trident is Odin. the Indian may be a conversion. He picked up at PW. I will check over later today.

I’d like to acquire about 20 of that kneeling medieval —- set them up in a line facing charging mounted knights — like at Agincourt.

  3. ERWIN F SELL says:

The ninja are from original designed and made ,not copies of any at all set sold under Red Box in 1993/96 approx at Kmart ,KB toys and others ,it come with only playset Ninja ever made as far I know in plastic .The figures are 12 poses in red and black.Playset is made of nice base terrain vacuum foam hollow temple field with buildings and entrances plus accessories in hard plastic well done but under scale and al painted molded .I bought three playset back then and recently sold one full PLAY set with box in my ebay store .I have entire other playset and box and used as background to many of my other Japanese sets ,I can provide picture of all.Scale IN figures unfortunately is 38/40 mm max and a cheap wasted 30mm figures in bag set were sold in early 2000 I made picture of both original and later copies as well if like.
This Playset is same exact line that made a series of Playset Pirates with figures in blue and yellow 12 poses pirates and vacuum island sold around same times. I post the PIRATES figures here before as well.
The ninjas match close in scale with Hing Fat ninjas and other HK 80s made HK 14 poses set .
These pirates and Ninjas apparently were not long sold and are hard see around here least ,I sold my Playsert for a ridiculous surprise price to me.
The aliens are copies of machine capsules 80s sold and some have weapons ,sold as key holders too and by US Toys now in dozen per bags as party favors toys ,they had been made in several scales .
Construction figure is from or copie of Boley set figures from late 90s early 2000,now being copied and sold by others as well …
    Best

But what about that kneeling medieval archer? Does anyone know it’s make, brand, history, etc.?

I want Erwin or one of our British, German, or French cousins to help us on this!

  5. rahway says:

The cavalryman came with the Lincoln Logs Frontier Fort set.

And why do Don Perkins name and email address auto-populate on this form?
