That photo of the NVA & Viet Cong together makes quite an impressive attacking force, regardless of whether NVA & Viet Cong ever actually integrated their units together in that fashion.

I find it amazing that these Plastic Platoon figures are all totally new sculpts, not copied from any pre-existing metal, and suddenly represent the pinnacle of plastic toy soldier design and production, with Engineer Bassevitch a close second.

And I say that as someone who very much admires what Expeditionary Force is doing, and what Barzso, LOD, Conte, TSSD, Paragon, Austin Miniatures, & CTS have all come up with in the past few years. And it has to be remembered, of course, that these aforementioned non-Russian producers are much more affordable.

Tank is could be by FV ….
Yes the figures are original designed by Mikhail and artist in PC program ,then cast samples and work from there ,a long process before finish product done.Part of the actual cost increase problem to start .
I found EB still too far in my opinion in quality
I think the best EB had done are their Chintoy figures line sets in dep detail.Their own sets are a bit crude and weapons lack detail.
OWN brand figures are far better in my personal opinion in detail .
So are Publius but of course cloned from previews metal done .so not quite deep detail.
LOD in my opinion are better in detail and finish versus EB too as well .
Ninos, italian new maker resin figures are better too.
    My thoughts.

I broke down and bought the two American Platoon sets as a birthday present to myself, hopefully they will arrive before June.

I also bought and received the XForce 1812 American Militia figures, very nice figures well engineered, they mostly fit together securely with no glue needed and it also allows you to vary the head postion as well as how the figure holds the weapon. I only needed to glue one arm on one guy, otherwise good fits all around.

Actually, it was March 19th, I turned 67. If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself. I have already outlived my father and my paternal grand father.

  6. ed borris says:

Mine died before he was 52. My grandfather made 62.

  7. TDBarnecut says:

Ed, we need you to last about 20 more years so you can create thousands more conversions – please take good care of yourself.

    • ed borris says:

I have new project now that you mention it. Ken Ciak is sending me some figures of the Greeks and Trojans to convert for him, I look forward to the challenge and the entry into a new era. Should be fun.

      • TDBarnecut says:

Hope we’ll get to see some pics of those. Maybe Ken will put some of your conversions into production to expand his Ancients range.

    • Eddie White says:

Ed, do you have a Tarzan conversion available?

      • ed borris says:

I may have a Tarzan, but not converted. We just won a lot and it looked like a MPC Tarzan in there, I will find out Wednesday for sure. What do you want him to do?

        • Eddie White says:

Not familiar with the Mpc Tarzan.

          • admin says:

There is no MPC Tarzan. Aurora made hard plastic figure and Mattel had mold in their thing maker. You would have to go aboard for Tarzan. the best in our scale is the Lone Star Tarzan which was copied in Hong Kong. The figure Ed thought was Tarzan was actually Ideal Robin The boy wonder without his cape.

          • ERWIN F SELL says:

Also Tarzan from Manurba in several poses and PH are often common around too as optional bosses.

          • Andy says:

BUM made a Tarzan (of the “Apples”) that comes up on eBay every so often, but NOT cheap.

          • ERWIN F SELL says:

Bum is the same PH I was refering too.
It is the from their mold sold to BUM in 90s.
They did 5 poses plus boy and Jane in set wb animals and trees.
Unfurtunately because not longer reissued it is now hard to find cheap.

          Same mold, different company.

  8. ed borris says:

I guess we’ll find out, I’m looking forward to see what I can do with them. The four I have seem to be awfully hard plastic, I wonder how it will cut.

  9. Jeremy Haupt says:

The Plastic Platoon sets are awesome! My order has been placed.

I hope we might see an all female VC set and a couple of LRRp sets.

I like some of your ideas Christian and would love to see a German winter white set..maybe the siege of Cholm defenders..including Gen. Maj. Theodore Scherer. Some Siberian winter troops would be great, Vilna partisans, or some from the Warsaw Uprising.
