Tom Stark’s Space Board Setup

Tom Stark’s Space Board Setup  as you know Tom does a regular column in Playset Magazine. Tom is also a long time customer who has bought many of the oddand unusual figures I have sold.  He recently got one of Jim Clouse’s Battleboards. The battleboard  Tom got was a space layout which he place his Space toys on.  He has graciousily share photos of his display.

This is the first time I’m getting a close look at a ‘battle board’. They are much more detailed than I thought. Really great! So Tom, what do you do with this set up? I’d gotten together a bunch of space stuff and was going to do some ‘Nazis in space’ kind of scenario, that will be far less campy than that sounded. I have plans to build some space ships out of PVC pipes.

Say hi to Mr. Liska. One of the things Jim Clouse said to me about his official Battleboards is that he did not want them to be “highly” detailed so as not to either take away from the figures being used or overshadow them if they are not the most detailed. I may have gone a bit further down the “detail” path than Jim would have. I am going to use this with all sorts of space toys but my Tom Corbett, perhaps my favorite Marx set, is a prime target. I also have assembled a selection of pvc pipe which I will be converting to 1950’s style spaceships.

This is actually a board that Tom made himself! He did a great job. He had ordered a Robin Hood board from me and asked for a few pointers in making his own space board.

Nice job Tom ! Brings to my mind some of the 1960’s sci fi shows ! I could see Star Trek and Lost in Space characters in these scenes !
