Happy Thanksgiving Day 2017

Happy Thanksgiving Day 2017  I hope you have a good Thanksgiving.  We had a nice quiet holiday. The morning is spent watching the Macy’s parade. While it is enjoyable the parade does not seem the same as years past.
Since we do not have any close family, Laurie and I will go out. We have done many different places. At first the restaurant  is very good and then it go down.  One place we could get a regular meal from a limited menu.  If you had a large party you could ordered a full turkey which the server cut. Then the food  quality went down and the price went up.

Another place near to us has a buffet. The food was good but they changed the seasonings. The new seasonings are ones that Laurie does not like so we bagged that place.

This year Laurie decided to go out and looked around for a new place.
Some of the places were crazy with price per person at $40.00 or more. Laurie discovered that a place like Old Country Buffet was opened. The food selection was really good roastbeef, butterfly shrimp, steak, etc. So we decided to go.

We got there around 1:00PM and we had to wait about thirty minutes.  The food was  very good by and large. (The mashed potatoes were instant.) I was able to get my turkey and ham beside the other items I mention. They also had their regular selections as well.  Laurie got some of the vegtables she like and I don’t. We were well satisifed and only had to pay $16.20 person.

Sunday we will go to York PA for a toy show.  We have been going there for at least ten years. The show has 850 tables in two massive halls. You never know what you will find.

Yes it is typo. I have had a problem for decades where I do not hold the shift key long enough for $ appear. $44.00 is bad enough.

I have a lot to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.
First, I have my new Granddaughter, who has just captivated my life. She lives next door, so I see her every day. Grandchildren are God’s reward for being a parent.

Secondly, I have had some serious health issues this last year, which I seem to have beaten. I’m a survivor.

And third, toy soldiers still excite me. I’m grateful that I have a hobby that I enjoy
years after year. And I’m appreciative of the bloggers and contributors who make the hobby fun. You guys know who you are. There’s no need to list names. Without sites like this (and the knowledgeable people who provide information) the hobby wouldn’t be half as much fun.

I had a slow flea market season, due to a combination of bad weather and some health problems. I counted 6 Sunday washouts this season, an unusually high number.
But, I did find some unusual items and I’m working on a Flea Market season re-cap.
    Probably next week sometime.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all here.

Paul, I’m glad you and Laurie had a nice Thanksgiving Dinner, and that both of you are in sufficiently good health that you are still up and about with all kinds of activities, including the upcoming York Toy Show. Hope you managed to sneak out of the restaurant a couple of turkey slices for your “three boys”, so they could have a little Thanksgiving treat as well.

Bill, I’m glad your health problems have been resolved, and that you’re enjoying your grandchild, and having her right next door where you can interact with her on a daily basis.

Me, my wife, dog, and cats are all doing fine. I still enjoy my toy soldiers, but at age 67, I find myself starting to wonder just how much more money I should continue to spend acquiring more of them. Nevertheless, I’m still looking forward to the Indiana show (official title “The Midwest Toy Soldier Show”, run by Steve Connel, Rick Keller, and Rod Chapman), now scheduled on April 8. Many of the same dealers that appear at OTSN — like Alan Ford, John Stengel Jr., Ron Barzso, etc. — also make the trip to Indiana, so it’s always a fun event.

I hope everyone else also had a nice Thanksgiving.

We did not sneak out anyfood as the boys got to share a can of Blue buffalo Drucken. You brought a mmemory of a guy I met saying he worked in a buffet resstaurant and they busted a woman who lined the inside of her purse with a large plastic bag. she used it to stuff shrimp for later.
I am glad that I can still move around as I see how age and health has effected others. On collecting I will not go crazy. I will just a figure or two to the collection. Tomorrow most of my purchases will e for resale, but I never know. One year I found a Jescan skindiver at York in a bag.

And a happy Thanksgiving to all also. Had nineteen folks (four generations) at our house. Dinner went well, no one brought up politics, so there were no arguments. Perhaps the best moment was when my daughter’s new boyfriend asked us to observe a custom from his family. We went around the table and each person stated something for which they were thankful. Luckily, I was one of the last and had time to think. I asked everyone to look into each others’ eyes for a moment and then said, that was what I was thankful for, family.
